It's best to wait until you are at 10 to get the bobble head for 11

Met a guy in the Wasteland trying to sell me a dog. I passed because I had DogMeat with me.
Is this a trap?

Nah he sells a rottweiler. Gives your settlement extra defense

If I heard correctly you don't get a bonus for +11
This is wrong from what I have read.
I had several stats at 16 in my first play through.
Proof that it does go above 10 is your settlement limit which is capped at 10 + Your Charisma.
If there was no bonus above 10 then 20 would be the limit.
It isn't. If you wear all of the charisma gear plus max out at 10 and bobblehead and drugs, you can have almost 40 settlers.
My settler cap right now is 26. A bit of a pain in the arse in smaller settlements.

shite I had 16 in Hangman's Alley in my first playthrough and even that much was a pain.. Can't imagine more there.
Castle, Sanctuary, and Spectacle Island would be cool with a ton of settlers.

Alright played thru one angle and sided with BoS. Going to go back and try Institute next on a saved game before I have to make that choice. However I have a question...how do you side with the Minutemen? I feel like I don't get that option, only the other three(Railroad, BOS, Institute). All I keep getting when I try to talk to the Minutemen is more Preston missions.

Another settlement needs your help, General. I'll mark the location on your map

Just made it to the institute and not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting it.

I finally ran into the fake Preston Garvey during the Silver Shroud Quest. I knew he was out there and never went looking for him, but in the middle of a firefight with Northy's crew he walks up to me and starts his pitch while bullets are whizzing by and shite is blowing up all around me.

I like how some NPC's just wonder into situations and conversations

My favorite NPC random encounter was when I was trying to convince Maxon to spare Danse while speaking to him outside of Danse's bunker.
As we are doing the scripted dialogue, a Deathclaw jumps up on the little hill in the background, flexes and then starts charging us. Maxon breaks out of the scripted dialogue as well as Danse and they both wreck this pissed of Death Claw and kill it within seconds.
I was hoping the conversation would leave off where we stopped but it just made me restart it from the beginning. The second time around I just kept watching the hill and hoping another NPC enemy doesn't pop up.

I just played this so its fresh in my mind. After Maxon leaves and I got him to spare Danse, I guess there was a bunch of gunners or raiders close by and I was in mid conversation with Danse and he just drops from the bullets and stops talking
I also got killed.

I wish I had a video of when Preston basically photobombed me doing the memory mission. I had that please stand by screen and he just slowly walks behind it staring at me

i haven't had any strange NPC interactions like that, but my settlements are the vain of my existence at times after an attack.
I'll get the "settlement is under attack" alert.
I fast travel to the settlement.
WWIII is going down.
15-18 of my settlers
random caravans passing thru
my assigned supply line caravans passing thru
just mass death everywhere. because despite having 30-40 defense rating, walls around every single foot of the settlement. nope, just run straight out into the open with your pipe pistol to die by synths, mutants, or raiders with laser rifles, auto rifles, missile launchers, etc.
-_-

30 to 40 defense isn't much. I have 150+ in most and I had 700 at spectacle Island for shits and giggles.
I played well over and I do mean well over 200 hours on the first play through and I killed Ma Finch and I only saw 2 dead settlers the rest of the game and they died when I didn't show up for an attack.
So are you skipping the attacks? I've never seen someone die when showing up for an attack unless they walked in front of my maxed out weapons. Ma Finch stepped right in front of me blazing away with a maxed Kellog's .44
Also might be a good idea to give your defenders better weapons.
The first 5 to 7 defenders I set up, I give them maxed weapons or take their crappy pistols and max them out.
For those that don't want to take the time and parts to do this, there is a mod that gives you better settlers. There is a chance they will spawn with good weapons and armor.

I helped a settlement of mine defend against super mutants, personally witnesses a settler take a missile to the face without dying. In fact, she grabbed a minigun from a dead mutant and went to town.
