I've been doing Minutemen and Railroad quests exclusively. I always kill BoS on sight and shoot their veritbirds down when they are in the area. I have tried wiping out the airport a few times, but they just respawn and show no hostility towards me until I start shooting again. Synths are scum, so I'm going to go the Minutemen route on my second play through. I hit level 50 via Settlement building, should I up the difficulty now?

I only advanced the plot so I could get the weave. Now I am just doing minutemen chores so I can buy supplies for my settlements.
I need to get the perk where you can see the opponents resistances so I can hunt for synths in my settlements.

I feel dirty doing BoS missions

I did turn in documents and did a few of the keep the scribe alive radiant quests.

I like those scribe quests. The radiant quests can get repetitive and fun

I was too low for the first scribe quest when I tried it.
I think I got killed about 20 times and the scribe kept getting killed.
I don't mind the repetitive quests because they reset the junk at the site. Since all junk is useful for settlements, I'm at least gaining something with all the grinding.
Heck, I tend to grind RPGs even when it isn't useful so this game has been a bright ray of sunshine for me.
Even a crummy little ashtray is useful. That clipboard and pencil are useful.

Their radiant quests are really good, at least most of them. I'm over leveled for some of them though so I've blown through them.
I did the quest for brotherhood where he makes you overtake a settlement for their food. I'm assuming that's radiant but I reloaded because the brotherhood isn't taking that settlement from the minutemen.

I assumed so. That's why I made a save before hand to reload. I love the quick save try something stupid way of playing.

Well my quest to purge syths has failed.
Sunshine Tidings has everything anyone could need and I get no messages from pissed off settlers but the happiness is 40. So I have a synth problem.
The way to determine a synth is to use the perk that shows an opponents resistance. If a settler has energy resistance, they might be a synth.
Problem is that I use a mod that starts settlers out with better weapons and clothes.
So most of them have leather or some resistance armor so the only way to find the damn synths would be to strip everyone naked and shoot whoever has energy resistance.
Too much of a hassle.

Do you know the name of the perk? I have 11 "level ups" just sitting that I need to use.

It is one of the first few perception perks.
It just shows you the opponents level and resistances.
Just check the perception tree and you will see it.

I got that perk early and rarely use it
Posted on 2/13/16 at 10:51 am to Mr Gardoki
I used it late game with my first play, just to see the enemy level. Not that I needed it, I was just interested to see how high monster levels went. I think 105 was about as high as I saw wandering the glowing waste.
Posted on 2/13/16 at 10:57 am to TigerMyth36
It can be useful just to see if an enemy is a much higher level.

quote:Yeah, I didn't know it showed level until I was already super high level myself.

It certainly could be useful early game to check and see if you need to avoid a situation.

It does show resistance but after a while you learn those. I never even pay attention to them. I wouldn't unlock this perk on another play through.
Posted on 2/13/16 at 3:45 pm to Mr Gardoki
quote:Yeah, I've never paid attention to resistances. As I said, I mainly did it this time because I read you could use it to detect synths messing with your settlements. But I botched that with the advanced settlers mod I am using.

Do like me then. I saved Spectacle Island to banish my syths or suspected synths.
