Yeah relievers are extremely fickle year to year by nature and Kimbrel is one of the rare exceptions to that. Thinking they could fetch anything close to that for Giles is madness.

Aint that the truth. Joakim Soria, Jose Valverde, and Fernando Rodney all highlight this. Sometimes those guys were untouchable, next thing you know, they cant get through an inning to save their life, for one reason or another.

So how about that Roy Oswalt Trade
Wallace was DFA'd prior to the 2014 season. He hit .242 with 29HR and 102 in 313 games for Houston.
Happ went 18-28 with a 4.84 ERA as an Astro.
Villar hit .236 with 10HR 46RBI and 42SB in 198 games. Traded to Milwaukee for Cy Sneed.
Cordero went 0-3 with a 19.80 ERA and 3 blown saves in 6 games before being released. Ben Fransisco played in 31 games as an Astro, hit .247 with 2HR and 5RBI.
So in all, the direct trade for Oswalt was a bust. The 3 players we got didn't work out for us. Tracing back to the Oswalt trade, he'res what we've netted from it.
Hank Conger: ML back up catcher. Hit .229 with 11HR and 33RBI in his first season with the Astros
Asher Wojciechowski: made the 2015 rotation out of spring training. Was ineffective and demoted to AAA.
Joe Musgrove: Astros #9 prospect (#3 pitching prospect). 22 years old. Posted a 1.88 ERA over A, A+ and AA in 2015.
Kevin Comer: 22 years old. 4.45 ERA at A+ Lancaster in 2015.
Cy Sneed

Oswalt was dealt to the Philadelphia Phillies for J. A. Happ and two minor league players, center fielder Anthony Gose, and shortstop Jonathan Villar,

Immediately after, Gose was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for first baseman Brett Wallace.

Pérez was promoted to the major leagues on May 4, 2015 to back up Chris Iannetta.

Just a fantastic name.

Might be the diamond in that rough if he can keep it going.

If Musgrove becomes a solid MLB starter then it's still a good return IMO. Crazy unwinding that whole deal though

The trades can be a reminder that prospects are far from a sure thing. I think due to our down years and all of the prospects we brought in, we tend to want to hoard them. "WHAT!? We let Phillips go for Gomez? Oh no way I'd give up Reed for Freeman."
Pence Trade
~#48 prospect Cosart
~#25 prospect Singleton
Oswalt Trade
~#94 prospect Villar
~#27 prospect Wallace
Wandy Trade
~#76 prospect Grossman
Those rankings are the highest ranking from any of the 3 ranking systems that baseball reference uses.

Well atleast we got the Stros.....back to baseball season
I suppose our Agstros will be on board with this as well, especially if things take a turn for the worse in Nashville tonight
Looks like it's just dhav with OU who can still claim it's the offseason

It's nice to have OU still in the mix. Won't really miss Jed or Lil Jerome.

I wonder if Luhnow is taking a half day today?

I want to know what we are getting back. Is it big league players or some minor leaguers we can package in another deal
