Call it pumping sunshine if you like but I'm pleased with the defense so far.

Take away the interception that put them at the 1 yard line and we held them to 14 points and 255 yards.

We are generating a ton more pressure on the QB than years past. Key has me all kinds of excited. (As long as they teach him to stay onsides) Neal has looked solid.

3 INTS last night from some young guys KT2 JA33 and DJ45 with the pick six

Also we are young, these guys will continue to improve. In the coming weeks we will also be adding mills to the mix.

Call it how you want, I'm excited about the D moving forward.

Neal is a beast. Not having bower hurt. Linebackers in coverage was my only real concern. White and KT2 are very good. Adams and Jefferson have been solid all year.

I thought our defensive playcalling was very bland last night.

EMU didn't seem to have much trouble moving the ball last night. That's worrisome. Hopefully just the competition that night.

I don't really like what Steele does against spread concepts. This opinion is not based on what I saw last night, though that didn't help my perception. I have a lot of question marks about him that I hope he resolves this season.

I think they were on the wrong drugs...

They lacked interest. Inexcusable.

They played kinda sloppy. Atleast 1 busted coverage, a couple of offsides penalties, and a few missed gap assignments, some missed tackles too.

But it's very clear they have the potential to be a great defense especially if/when they get a relatively healthy Bower and Jalen Mills back.

Best play of the night was the DL stunt where Key put pressure on the QB resulting in a pick 6 by Debo.

Some good things. Not the best LSU defense but should be sufficient, barring injuries, to contend

How often do we run dime?

It seems like we run nickel all game no matter the down and distance (besides 3rd and short)

Most of the second half chunks given up on D this year were down field in coverage against a LB with a huge lead. Deon jones and beckwith should not be expected to cover deep downfield in obvious passing situations with our talent and depth in the secondary

When has LSU ever contended without an elite defense? 2003, 2007, 2011 all had elite defenses. 2007 did have their bad games however. And all of those offenses had more efficient QB play as well (lee 11')

This year feels like 2013, fun/historic players to watch on offense, with subpar defensive production by LSU standards. 2-3 losses would not be surprising

Dwayne Thomas is a definite weak link. He's a reincarnation of Danny McCray, only he plays nickel.

I'm worried about match ups that Freeze, Kiffin and Sumlin will dial up against us. Misdirection a and match ups on our lb'ers in general.

Steele is probably equivalent to Pelini, i.e. not as good as Chavis "coaching" wise but good enough. He'll make up for it with recruiting, though.

I expect way more than giving up 20+.

That is poor performance against that team.

Too many missed tackles. Too many points given up.

1st team unit looks solid. Covering the slot will improve with Mills. LB coverage is a little suspect still, but overall, the 1st team looks good.
