Is the Polynesian? Is it better to stay somewhere on the monorail.
The Poly is nice. But you need to have a big budget for the Deluxe Resorts and they are very convenient to the Magic Kingdom.
Excellent for mid-day breaks. Good Restaurants. I'd have park hopper passes so you can visit Epcot easily for cocktails, dinner and fireworks after a day in the Magic Kindgom.
But for many people, it's not at the cost benefit ratio of the Moderate resorts.
I've never tried stayed at a Value Resort and I've been about 30 times.

I've stayed at Poly multiple times. Monorail resorts are hard to beat. I've also stayed at Wilderness Lodge several times and it's in my top 3 of resorts. You can take a small boat to Magic Kingdom, weather permitting. And then bus it everywhere else. Or, you can take a boat to Contemporary then hop on the monorail there for Magic Kingdom or take it to the TTC and switch over to the Epcot train.
I've also stayed at the Yacht Club and that location is hard to beat. You can walk into the back of Epcot and also walk to Hollywood Studios from the resort. You can also catch a boat to either park. Plus you have the Boarwalk resort area for a bit of dining and nightlife that isn't nearly as crowded as Downtown Disney / Disney Springs.
Of the moderates, I've stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and Caribbean Beach. FQ >>>>>> CB
I've stayed at Pop Century and All-Star Music for the Value Reports. Pop is much MUCH better than the All-Stars. I've walked the grounds at Art of Animation and eaten at that food court. It's easily the best of the value resorts BUT it's hard to get a normal double-occupancy hotel room there. More often than not, those are sold out and they only have the family suites available which are priced about the same as moderate rooms. But, it's a suite so it's got a living area, 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms.
