I'm a Star Wars nerd though I have watched my share of Star Trek in most of its variants and I love the original LOTR trilogy. I've dipped my toe in those pools but my impression is that Doctor Who people are the worst.

1. Star Trek
2. Dr. Who
3. Star Wars
4. LOTR
Dr. Who is balanced out by the enormous population of hipsters that watch it. Star Trek is almost straight nerd.

Well, Star Wars isn't even really on the same level as the other two in terms of nerdiness . I love Star Wars more but it's not exactly a technical obsession like Star Trek fans learning Klingon or lotr fans learning elvish.
I'd have to go with Star Trek because so much of it is scientific and ideas for people to nerd out on. Lotr has very technical stuff but most of it is in the apendixes or not really integral. It's also a bit more conceded with world changing dramatic events which are a little bit more tangible.

Nobody but nerds ever watched Next Gen/Picard.

The Next Generation.
I like the exploration of duty and how they dealt with that through extreme circumstances more.

I do find Doctor Who fans to be real pompous. I think they have this "I am so cultured" attitude because they watch the more off beat science fiction show.
This isn't really exclusive to Doctor Who fans, it seems to be most people that claim they only watch United Kingdom programming.

I work at Initech and I do not consider myself a p****.
But to answer your question, I'd say Star Trek has the most hardcore nerds

Hipsters. So many watch that show. They lack the conviction to be real geeks.

That's funny because you epitomize pomposity on this board.

How is that even possible? That and your experience around here must be seriously limited. There are self proclaimed elitists around here, and I'm not one of them
(And If you took my comment to mean I had the conviction to be a real geek or something, that isn't true either. That was a half joke on myself, as much as that stuff can be cool, I lack that conviction too. Most people do, being a tried and true geek is hard work.)

1) And I said what to deserve the personal attack?
2) Nice. Call someone out without proof. That's the way to make a point!

Back on topic,
I do want to take this moment to say that even though I'm not one to immerse myself whole heartedly into one topic, one world, one property and nearly live it, I totally respect those who do. It's nerdy, but that kind of passion is kind of cool to see. Writing fan fiction, creating games, playing RPGs, learning fake languages, I enjoy the fact that literature, film, and other mediums can have THAT kind of impact on people.
And also, talking with people who go that deep is kind of fun, they make worlds seem alive sometimes. And that's kind of awesome.

I just thought it was funny that you bolded the word pompous when every time I see you on here you seem to give an overtly elaborate explanation on a movie
Like you went to movie college
I guess I'm just venting on the fact that movies are objective and so many people on this board seem to be holier than thou. But yea you seem to be one of those guys

That's better than saying that I am the epitome of pomposity, so I'll take it. Look, I really like film and I really like to discuss and debate. Sometimes I'll get hard-headed, I mean we have faults, and I'm probably a little wordy. I admit it. But that's kind of the what the board is for, talk, explain, debate, figure things out. I mean if we all just popped in here and said "Cool film!" and were done with it, how far would that get us? Even if we were all positive, that would get boring.

Film is at least a minor hobby for me, so yeah I'm one to read books on film, watch documentaries, listen to commentaries, etc. I also have a tendency to teach, that's more of a personal thing, and it's hard to turn that off sometimes, so I can apologize if that comes off as pompous.

I think you meant subjective (it's cool it's late). In my opinion, it's not about people being holier than thou, it's the amount of healthy debate that we do have around here, and the Type A folks who will go to bat for their opinions, no matter how minor. That's a cool thing, even if it can get frustrating for everyone. And we all have our moments. That's my two cents.
The weird thing about film is that it's both personal and communal, that's why people can be forceful in their opinions, and take things personally. But that's a longer discussion.
Best board on TD. Best admins too.

Sorry to hear that but
