I cannot understand the love for this band at all. Has anyone stayed awake for the entirety of one of their songs?
We were on up stage, I heard a classic drum fill
Blasting a hundred decibels over the hill
It was getting pretty vile, I asked who it was
A guy in a raincoat shouted back, "They're called 'War On Drugs!'"
It sounded like basic John Fogerty rock

Ahh. The Koz attacks on WOD might have been the beginning of the end for me in my music blogosphere obsession.

"Indie" is a pretty broad brush to stroke with
Pinback is the quintessential "indie" band imo.
And I don't get the War on Drugs hype/worship either fwiw

Warpaint.
Both fantastic. I didn't care for early Circa Survive, but I really feel like David Bottrill taught them a lot during the Blue Sky Noise sessions.
I'll add:
Pinback
Zechs Marquise
sBach
Amiina

That's actually a pretty damn good song. Great guitar work.

Sad that they imploded like they did. They were one of the best new hard rock bands in years, but apparently lost a lot of money. Cool guys, though.
That said, Brett and Matt have a new band together, Erstwhile. Honestly, Darroh was such a huge part of FTM's sound, but you can hear FTM in the keys/drums:

They definitely aren't for everyone, but I thought Lost in the Dream was one of the best albums I've heard in years. Adam Granduciel isn't the best lyricist or singer, but the music itself is really easy on the ears and has a lot of long term listenability. I love how they incorporate the keyboard, piano, sax, organ, harmonica, etc. into their songs. Gives them a very unique sound. They're really good live, too.

That said, they left a lot to be desired live. Judgement Day stole the show when they opened for Pinback at Chelsea's. Really odd pairing, too.

I was a fan since around 04/05. Always stood on Cliff's side. Got them to sign my Arrow's and Anchors vinyl. Last time I saw them I could see it was coming to an end when we were talking before the show. When people say so and so put on the best live performance, they have never seen a FTM show. Darroh-(Andew) back when I was first on to them, is just insane. I like looking back at my photo albums/videos from the early shows. I'm not sure if signing with Serj was a good or bad move. Somewhere they lost money and they were never heard from again.
