So, who all do you like in the Indie community?
I'd like to expand my bands more than I already have.

Favorite ones at the moment are:

HRVRD.
Circa Survive.
Taking Back Sunday.
Brand New.
Team Sleep.
Deftones.
Warpaint.

Can you define "Indie"? I don't consider any of the ones you posted to be "indie." Are you just talking about independent labels (non-major), or are you talking about a genre that has an underground sound?

I cannot understand the love for this band at all. Has anyone stayed awake for the entirety of one of their songs?

That really means a lot.

I would say The Butthole Surfers, TV On The Radio, andThe Eels, , but the OP's criteria of 'indie' might be different than my own.

Red Eyes is my favorite song of at least the past 3 years or so.

Different strokes man. But I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because people whose opinions I respect are gushing over them and I just don't see it. I feel like we listening to two different things.

Kind of a broad topic. Not sure I'd lump Ryan Adams into "Indie". However, if I'm mistaken, he's most certainly on the top of my list.

Tame Impala
The War on Drugs
Small Black
Wild Nothing
Lord Huron
The Horrors

For the purposes of this thread I have interpreted it to mean on an independent label.

Oh yeah, forgot to say that Wilco is the quintessential indie band.

And if anyone is selling tickets to the NOLA show, let me know.

I'm with you on this. The National is about the same for me too. I can appreciate War on Drugs last album in certain settings, but it's just a snoozer for me. I don't think it's bad music, just not my cup of tea.

Pavement. Just about anyone part of the Elephant 6 collective. Mudhoney. Modest Mouse. REM (IRS years).

Every band on Dischord and every band on SST prior to 1987.
