China held one of those Communist military parades yesterday to celebrate. Those things always make me chuckle.

I new a older gentlemen several years ago that was on the battleship when Japan signed the surrender. He was watching from one of the upper decks/platforms..

He told the story that a big reception was planned below deck after the signing to celebrate the end of hostilities. However the Japanese representatives resisted participating which was quite surprising/puzzling to the the US officials. Later it was discovered the Japanese representatives thought they were being escorted below deck to be shot.

Japan was such a different culture back then.
