Was that when BGE was tearing things up and McCoy was not getting the ball consistently (Can't recall if this occurred in the same year)? If that was at the same time, then it doesn't seem that far fetched of an offer, depending on their relationship.
Wouldn't call it tearing things up. They were both doing about the same as far as production. It's the Calvin Johnson (who set records that year) for Joel Dressen that made it obvious what they were trying to do. They tried to give me the same excuse about BJE and McCoy, and i told them "fine, just trade those two then, why do you have to throw in the 2nd leading scorer in the league for a droppable player?"
I left out that they tried to do a McCoy/Calvin for Dressen/kicker the day before, then tried to rationalize the BJE/Dressen for McCoy/Calvin.

The collusion people tell me how you'd handle this
when trades happen between playoff teams and nonplayoff teams right before the playoffs start, and it makes the playoff team better and the nonplayoff team worse, something might be going on there.

Too much money is on the line to just boot them. Good commissioners fix that shite. If it's bad enough to kick then out a league it's bad enough to fix

Fix it how?
What if someone gave up big for OBJ last year right before he blew up on a speculative add? So people bitch thinking he gave up way too much for an injured, unproven WR, has trade veto'd, only to be proven he knew what he was doing.

With no context I can't answer that. Ruling on these trades is all about context. Not just the players on the surface.
Fix meaning veto it and tell them to try again.

I agree

I realize that but this is a league with all friends. The guy just wanted Tebow to have him. It wasn't collusion
But according to OP you should let that be: doesn't matter that he can't make the playoffs and is giving up the leagues best RB to a top team

And as someone said last night, it's not about managing someone's team rather than upholding the integrity of the league.

The whole "just kick them out next year" line of thought is just dumb. You risk losing good owners because they got fricked out of money by a completely lopsided, indefensible trade.

How do you determine collusion?
Oh yea, you can't.
Exactly.

There are non collusive trades that ruin the integrity of the league. This is a fact.
This. I think most people have played in a league at some point in time in their career that included a Taco or two. It happens. Someone who doesn't know what they're doing, or values players like shite, or doesn't give a shite, etc. No reason to let the league go to shite and allow the trade raper to get a stud for free just because it wasn't textbook collusion. Everyone's got money on the line, F that noise. If it's at least arguable that it's fair, then OK.

Why should someone be penalized for convincing someone to do a bad trade?
Thats the skill in the trade. The other guy feels he is coming out good in the end (even if he is getting raped).

I don't consider taking advantage of someone and the league as a whole as a "skill". It's just a race to see who dupes the poor guy first. Would you be cool with it if today someone in your league who is new and doesn't know any better traded Leveon Bell for a defense because the trade raper convinced him defenses were more important? You'd just let it go through? If you would you're an idiot if you have money on the line.
Yes, everyone is free to manage their own team. If you want to bench AP this week because you don't like the matchup, then go for it (I think you're stupid for benching him, but by all means, have at it). But when their managing fricks the whole league up, such as by giving someone else a stud for free and unbalancing the league, I think the other owners should step in and stop it. Think of it like an HOA agreement. Everyone has a vested interest in the neighborhood as a whole. So everyone is free to do what they want with their own homes as long as it doesn't mess with the rest of the neighborhood. You can have KKK meetings in your home if that's your thing, but you can't start putting burning crosses up around the neighborhood.
Now where you draw that line on what's a fair trade is another question because there's plenty of grey area.

Good commissioners dont allow this to happen. The bottom line with all of this is if you have 10, 12 or 14 good owners that know what the frick is going on, you should never have to veto a trade. If you do, and you're the commish then its on you.

I wasn't talking about crazy, insane stuff like this.
This would never happen in any league I am in.

You draw the line at ridiculous stuff like Dez for Matt Bryant.
Only on ridiculous stuff.

I don't see what's wrong with that.

shite that's still a fair trade looking back

Yeah I usually don't see that ridiculous stuff either, but it can happen. Ideally you won't have anyone that dumb in your league, but everyone has a first time playing and makes dumb mistakes. My point is just that collusion isn't the exclusive scenario for vetoing.
