Any of yall get into a school of true stripers that weren't stocked in a lake/reservoir?
I'm not talking about bar fish (white bass) or hybrid stripers (broken lines).
I've gotten into a school of them in an eddy in Bayou Sorrel one summer. All 2-4 pounds and fought like reds.

Haven't ever gotten into a school of them but have caught a few south of Venice when the river gets right in the fall/winter. Never anything huge like they catch in the Atlantic but a few over 5 lbs.

Use to catch them in Buras under the lights in the river, on a low river in the winter..

Weldon North Carolina in the spring. Great spawning run up the Roanoke river from the Albemarle Sound. They stack up in a very small section of river and it is ridiculous fishing numbers wise. If you use shad on a carolina rig it's stupid easy fishing. Prefer to chase them on fly and artificial as I'm not usually a fan of bait fishing unless nothing else is working.
Don't expect privacy - river gets stacked up with boats but usually everyone is pretty friendly and courteous since everyone is catching.
Good article on the run LINK

Usually catch a few during high water when chasing bar fish. Some hybrids but more legit stripers coming out the Miss River. They are usually in the deeper water and earlier in the spring when the water is still cold
