How much feed do some of you OBers put out? In the summer months we put out between 2-4k a week. We make our own mix so that's one night a week we are mixing feed. It's pretty much a part time job doing it. We hunt about 850 acres privet land and its about a 2.5hr drive from the house

Need more info. How much land and how far from home do you hunt?

I quit feeding. Fed corn and soybeans, never had a deer come to feeder while I was hunting over it(they probably fed at night), squirrels and coons would wipe out 160 lb of corn in a month, even with varmit guard. Soybeans would ferment on the ground. We have plenty of oaks that produce well. I have shot plenty though that had someone elses corn in them

We dont feed at all. Really never reaped more/better deer when we did feed. Plus the hassle as you mentioned is just too much. Varmits eat more than their fair share as well.

4klbs/month of protein March-September, usually same amount of corn October-February

I never really fed except during summer for pics and beginning of bow season.
Hunting a new place this year with new strategy and new goals so I'll be feeding corn from 2 feeders on 200 acres (rather feed soybeans but they are harder to find)

I have feeders that hold 200# and set them for 4 seconds in the morning. That puts just enough on the ground for any deer that knows it's there to eat long enough to get a good look at him, but not enough for the hogs to hang around. Hogs have really been a problem the last few years.
I filled up feeders August 1. Hopefully have pics of some nice bucks soon.

Picking up a ton of corn in the morning to fill feeders. Once they start eating protein again later in the winter I'll put out rice bran in troughs.

We make our own mix. We get super sack of rice brand and cracked corn then put it in a big mixer with added protein, flavor, etc. then bag it all up. Heres a few pics.
This is our 6th year feeding like this. We have seen good improvements in size with the bucks. But like I said its a pain in the arse making it happen.

Thankfully we have not had the first hog on our place....yet....as far as coons we just try to trap and kill as many as we can

None. The old man puts out salt blocks. They're basically goats, so they will survive.

I ran across something similar in a Co-op the other day. The owner called it "Nut Grub" and was a mix of rice bran and ground peanut meal. I'm excited to see what results it produces.

Are you saying 2,000 to 4,000 lbs a week?

My land is 3.5 hours from the house and I only hunt 80 acres. This year, I've had 3 feeders throwing twice a day and I try to go dump 100 pounds of rice bran once a month or so. I feed all year just to keep the deer on our property and it works well. I put out rice bran in July and got over 1000 pictures of all deer in the first 3 days and 5000 pictures in a month.
