LSU will have one of the lowest stipends for athletes in SEC

While Auburn and Bama will have the highest. LSU will be allowed to give athletes $3800 per while Bama gives $5,300 per. SEC offices in Tuscoulousa so it comes as no surprise that LSU gets f'ed again by the SEC. How much more blatant can you get in showing favoritism to one school and outright cheating. Doesn't sound like much but for a poor kid from the country or city it could be one more big motivation in what school to choose. Especially if everything seems equal in other respects.

Is there criteria used to establish these stipend amounts?

Blame LSU. They are the ones who submitted their cost of living figures. It's no surprise that the Alabama schools have padded their numbers to gain an advantage. The cost of living went up 35% in two years in the state of Alabama according to the UA athletic dept's study. Allevas unwillingness to take advantage of the NCAA's ineptitude is the problem here.

Well Auburn athletics are in the red every single year from trying to keep up with Bama.

wow, did the sec offices even attempt to check the figures? ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Cost of living??? I'm sure cost of eggs and milk has gone up...
Oh and that athletes get room and board, soooo what the hell are they basing this on?

Instead of typing these lines, you could've just put "I'm a fricking moron with no idea what I'm talking about."
It would've helped people reach that obvious conclusion much faster.

I say to recruits that you go to Bama or Auburn and get less for more but come down to Baton Rouge and get more for less. Simple.

Us government determines cost of living, they give basic housing allowances to military members based off of this. Now I could see Nashville having a noticeably higher one than br, but no way Tuscaloosa does.
BAH
35487 (bama): $960. per month
70808 (lsu) : $1100 per month
This evaluates property/rent, food and leisure, the whole nine yards.
If every student athlete is on scholarship what could be a reason to pay a higher stipend in Tuscaloosa than BR? As the stipend is for their cost of living lol
Edit: that extra 1500 is a big dollar amount for 18 yr old kids. Some extra shoes/videos games and so on. That 1500 is actually a damn top of the line 60 inch samsung for their dorm room per player... shite I'd even love 1500 to play around with right now.

its crazy that they let schools come up with this.
Sure some cities are more expensive but that is a factor every student has to deal with.
The NCAA is just letting school pay players at this point

Where does Hawaii rank in all of this ?

One of the factors is transportation costs. Baton Rouge has an airport that lowers the cost of transportation compared to SEC schools in towns that do not have convenient air travel.

I got a good laugh out of the post blaming LSU for this.
Yeah, The SEC would simply approve LSU submitting the same numbers as Bama and AU.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
