re: IMG vs American Heritage

Shea had nothing to gain by going to IMG other than status and an ego thing for his dad. There's no where to go but down. He'll never look as good there as would have had he stayed at Calvary. IMG plays some tough competition, but so does Calvary ( and IMG plays some inferior games too). His supporting cast is better at IMG so all that evens out. As a Calvary person, I wish he would have stayed, but it'll be sweeter if we win title #3 without him.

I don't understand the move. You have your scholarships, championships, 5 star status...what else do you want?

Not to mention Ole Miss (not necessarily Freeze by the way) have better connections at IMG than LSU. They basically can get "off the books" communications and evaluations on players there. Not that is unique, to Ole Miss or in general, but it's one helluva place to have that ability.

IMG freaks in dorm rooms unsupervised or Calvary Baptists?
it's kind of like a mini-Olympic Village and we all know how that is

Seriously doubt he went to IMG for sex.

Defense wasn't even close to the problem for IMG
They lost 19-7, and 1 of AH's TDs was a pick 6.

I'll never understand it personally. It's your senior year of high school and you peace out to a football factory. Sure you'll make new friends but it's just not the same.
He's missing out on great memories.

Ole Miss doesn't have shite for connections at IMG. We have more connections to that program (through BeBe) then any school not named FSU or UF.

Ole Miss has excellent connections with IMG. In fact, it's my understanding that Ole Miss's connections with IMG was a major factor in several of Ole Miss's recent recruiting coups.
At the very least, I strongly suggest that you check which colleges are a client of IMG.
HINT: Ole Miss is client of IMG, and LSU is NOT.

We've never gotten an IMG guy so, yeah, we pretty much run that place.

Might want to check my earlier post in this thread, dumbass. I think I know how the school/recruiting decision process works and zero kids making major life decisions at IMG are making them or being pushed to make them because of which school is fricking sponsored by IMG.
I went there for 4 years and was never once pushed toward X school because of their "excellent connections with IMG" ( at the fact that you actually think ole miss has even a remote presence anywhere other than the IMG world headquarters which aren't even affiliated with IMG academy).
Hint: in my 4 years there, never once were we pushed toward a certain school because of their financial status with IMG, nor were we ever pushed towards a certain school at all. The only schools with "strong" connections with IMG athletes were the ones that were known to have superior athletic programs that saw a bunch of sustained success and had strong brands like Florida State, LSU, and USC. And even then most people didn't show interest in those schools if they didn't align with their personal goals and career path.
But since you know so much about how IMG recruiting works then maybe you can remind me what kids are making their decisions based off of and how the whole process works? Your knowledge clearly surpassed what I learned in 4 years in Bradenton and many years of living 10 mins away from the school since you googled which schools are sponsored by IMG and all. Fill me in, Mr IMG expert

quote:I read your post in this thread, and I recall your similar post in a thread a while back. You are the guru of mid-2000s IMG.
Might want to check my earlier post in this thread, dumbass.
There's no need to resort to name-calling.
quote:I wasn't suggesting that you were pushed anywhere. I am not doubting your personal history. I'm not even questioning what happened there ten years ago.
I went there for 4 years and was never once pushed toward X school because of their "excellent connections with IMG"
However, it's been quite a few years since you attended IMG Academy. Things have changed. IMG Academy did not even have a football program when you went to school there. Perhaps you are not as well-versed in current happenings as you think you are.
quote:First, a school does not have to have a presence at IMG to use its connections to IMG to recruit. Remember that recruits travel to schools too. When the recruit comes to the school, the school can talk about its relationship with IMG to further the athlete's professional career. The athlete is, presumably, already comfortable with IMG; thus, the college is merely talking about an extension of the IMG family.
( at the fact that you actually think ole miss has even a remote presence anywhere other than the IMG world headquarters which aren't even affiliated with IMG academy)
Second, I don't know why you would say, "IMG world headquarters which aren't even affiliated with IMG academy." You do know that IMG owns IMG Academy. Ownership is a pretty close affiliation.
quote:Things have changed in recruiting in the last decade. It's far more of a "business decision" for recruits now. In fact, you regularly hear recruits use those exact words in the last few years. I don't recall recruits using those words in the mid-2000s.

I'm not even questioning what happened there ten years ago.
quote:No they haven't changed. I have multiple friends with siblings that still go there and it's not different at all. This is the exact reason that I'm saying that you have absolutely no fricking clue what you're talking about. IMG hasn't changed its philosophies since 1970 when it opened as a tennis academy despite picking up 10 other sports. Adding football won't change that
Things have changed. IMG Academy did not even have a football program when you went to school there. Perhaps you are not as well-versed in current happenings as you think you are.
quote:What the frick does this even mean? your understanding and mental picture of how IMG academy is set up and operates is so piss poor that it's not even possible to correct that.

quote:Bold your ridiculous statements all you want, it doesn't make them any more true. You don't even understand what you're talking about. I've made posts on the RB that are 20 paragraphs long explaining the thought process of committing to a school when I was there. Feel free to go dig them up so you can understand how fricking stupid you sound right now
You attended IMG Academy about a decade ago. Times have changed. IMG has a football program now. The recruiting process has become a "business decision" for more and more high level recruits. You made this statement:
quote:Yea, I'm sure that I don't know what I'm talking about when I attended the school for 4 years, have multiple connections that still go there, stay in touch with their alumni resources, and go to their sporting events regularly and listen firsthand to what people have to say. Where do you fricking idiots even come from? I think I understand how my own high school works and I think that most people can't even begin to fathom what the culture is like there, so kindly shut the frick up and keep your dumb opinions on the current state of recruiting and hearsay "facts" to yourself
But I'm sure that living ten minutes away from the school helps you to maintain your expertise on what happens with football players at IMG
Posted on 8/26/15 at 1:12 pm to Salviati
And FYI, just because you people are just hearing about the football program doesn't mean that it's just coming into existence. They held camps and had top prospects/top NFL guys training there all throughout my years there. But I forgot, some random know it all a-hole on the recruiting board thinks that the football "program" is just coming into existence because they have an official team now so that means that I don't know anything about their football program get a life and stop talking about something that you know nothing about
Posted on 8/26/15 at 1:22 pm to Salviati
quote:I just want to single out how fricking wrong this is too. You're sitting there telling me that one of the most powerful sports schools on Earth was telling 18 year olds, as recently as 6 years ago, to just "go with their hearts" and pick a random school and not consider their family situations, personal needs, favorite coaching styles, and a million other things? Please stop talking. You are CLUELESS and pulling "facts" out of your arse to make it seem like you know what you're talking about to other clueless people. Stick to being a moron in the Jordan Jefferson threads and stay out of the kool aid if you don't know the fricking flavor
Your mid-2000s recruits tended to make more decisions with their hearts. Today's recruits tend to focus on what the college can do for the individual recruit's professional career.
