Best Hotel Rewards Program w/ Extended stay

New job will have me traveling a lot from town to town on the road. Trying to get my money's worth between affordability and rewards programs; however, has to have extended stays available in many locations (could be staying up to a week at a time fairly frequently.
I'll be based out of DFW metroplex traversing all or most of North Texas if it helps.
Kinda new to the living on the road game, so all advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance, y'all.

IHG has the best rewards program, but not always the best properties on the road. But it's what I use.

Look into Marriott and Hilton.
To me, Earning Points and free stays with Marriott was easier. But, I've also had success with Hilton, and really like Hilton properties slightly better.

Not sure what you mean by "has extended stay" but I like the Hilton properties best and almost exclusively stay there.

HHonors lets you earn status based on stays. It also has better vacation properties than IHG, imho. Get the HH AmEx and pay with it. You will never pay for a hotel room again. I haven't paid for a room in fifteen years, including a vacation with 17 room nights in Hawaii.
You will need a second loyalty plan. Go with Marriott or IHG. I like Marriott personally, but it depends on what's available in your towns.
Try to stick to no more than two programs. Use the secondary only when the primary isn't available.
ETA-Many people love SPG, but they aren't going to have any small town properties.

I'm assuming he means a place that offers a small kitchen like set up with the room for those guys who are stuck there for a while.

Not sure what extended stay means.
Where you're traveling on paid nights, where you want to redeem free nights, and what you value from status are all questions I'd need to answer that question.

OP said a week, which isn't really extended. I don't think he's looking for a Homewood or similar with the full kitchen setup. Maybe he's looking for a place that will give point bumps for a week stay. I don't know of any of those, but it could help him hit quarterly stay x/ get x promos with IHG.
Personally, I'd probably move around once or twice to get the Marriott megabonus and stays toward HH diamond.

interesting that I have never really considered this...I have been diamond hilton status for damn near ten years now and the thought never crossed my mind to get a HH Amex...

I use the Marriott rewards and their visa and it's great. Residence Inn is a good extended stay option. They have Townplace Suites as well. Their Ritz connection is great for family trips to Caribbean.

IHG is what I use. They have many brand choices and are in most places I need to travel.

7 HH points per dollar on Hilton stays on the card makes every stay a 70% bonus. I also pay with it when I stay with other brands.
You also get another 40k points for getting the card. LINK

I think this is kind of what I'm looking for.
How do the points work? I don't need the credit card, right? It just helps you get more points?
The more info the better, thanks a lot y'all.

You don't need it, but if you get a card tied into the brand you will be staying at, the points earning potential is much much higher.

I went through this process a few years ago. The Marriott has worked very nicely for me and family. The rewards customer service and gold level reservation service are outstanding. The Marriott visa paired with my travel and expenses has allowed me to significantly grow my points.
I use SPG as my backup.

I would definitely say Hilton if you want to have tons of choice in every city when using your points. Especially if you plan to travel internationally. Stay away from Wyndham. While you can rack up points rather quickly their selection of hotels in cities is basically worthless, unless you want to stay at motel type places.
I'd also recommend Marriott. Hilton and Marriott have been great for me.
