Successfully fighting BS speeding ticket?

Anybody successfully fight a speeding ticket? Is it worth it?
Was driving to Port Sulphur to meet with someone. Appointment scheduled for 11:00 and I was plenty ahead of schedule for it. According to my phone GPS I was scheduled to arrive approx. 5-10 minutes before 11:00. About 10:25-10:30 I'm around Point A La Hache traveling in right lane, cruise control on set about 65MPH and I see a police unit on the side of the road. I get over into the left lane as a courtesy to give the trooper space, don't brake at all cause there was seemingly no need to and keep going along behind a pick up truck/trailer. I keep going and about a mile later I see the trooper turn the lights on. No problem, can't be me right? SOB pulls me over and says I was going 77 in a 55. I think to myself "it's 65 and I had my cruise control set at about 65." After I get the ticket, I ask as politely as I could how it was possible for me to be going that fast when I saw him, got over and was traveling behind another vehicle going faster than I was. Little Napoleon, tells me that's why there is a court date and that he has the ability to differentiate between any two vehicles.
I'm sure the consensus will be that I'm a TPOS, that I got what I deserved and that the trooper is infallible. Should I bother?

absolutely
tell your side of the story...start from when you got on and set the cruise, better be exact about the speed ] don't belittle the officer. you could say he was mistaken....just no attitude
then go play 9 holes....

How will you contest a ticket where you don't know your exact speed or the speed limit?

Get him on the stand and ask if he's ever rubbed one out in his cruiser.
Remind him he's under oath.

Just be glad you weren't black and didn't have your dog with you.

Look the first thing the prosecutor is going to do is try and put you on the defensive, don't let him get that opportunity. Remember the burden of proof is on them so go after the cop, do some research and try to rattle his cage on cross examination. Try and poke holes in his story and ask him off topic questions about race relations in Baton Rouge. If that doesn't work then put the entire system on trial.

But, he was going "about" 65 in a 65. Or wait, was it a 55? Or wait, is he lying about going "about" 65?

Speed Limit is 65. I had cruise control set at 65ish.

So you have no idea if you were speeding or not, and you are going to contest the ticket?
Yea, have fun with that.

Look, I'm with you, but when I set my CC it locks and shows me a set speed.
Are you saying you don't recall the exact speed?

That's not gonna get you out of anything. Try "The cruise control was set at exactly 64, which means that one of us is lying officer! And I intend to prove to those twelve gentlemen that it was you!"
Be more authoritative.

Speed limit is 65, was there any doubt in my post that was the case? If so, sorry for the confusion. I had cruise set at approx. 65-67.

Are you sure it was 65? They change you know. If you are sure go take pictures of the sign if you really want to fight it.

You may want to edit that. There's a good chance this thread will be permitted as evidence.

Say that, not "ish".
I believe you more than the cop, anyway.
Either pay a local atty $250 or call the parish/# on the ticket.
They'll let you do an online driving school and then pay them $200-250. They won't report it to your ins. company and it won't show up on your record.
It's just about the $$$ and has nothing to do with "safety", as we all know.
