Townes was a genius singer song writer, not a rock star. Singer song writers typically get better with age, more life experiences and such. I would have liked to hear what he could have done had he practiced his craft another 20 years. All these people are dead so who knows what they would have done.

He was only 52, and as mentioned elsewhere...singer/song writers get better with age.
His cover of Dead Flowers is one of my favorites, and he recorded it about 2 years before he died.
