New moon, and low cloud cover. Should be a fantastic show. 3AM-5AMish will probably be the best viewing, but starting in about 10-15 minutes you should be able to start seeing them. Easiest way is to just look straight up.

About to go set up the bug torch, some reclining tailgate chairs, a fan, a few cigars, and a bottle. Gonna be a good night.

Thanks for heads up! I do Pilates during that time and will do it out in my art garden to watch the fabulous show of nature!

sweeet, be heading out around 4am, so should be able to catch some good shite

You're on an LSU based message board. Figure it out based on the location of LSU.
(It's time zone independent - just the few hours before dawn are the best.)

Who the frick downvoted a meteor shower thread?

I just got back from a little island in the Bahamas and we've been watching every night. It's been fantastic out there with no ambient light or moon and we saw some very long, bright meteors, the best I've ever seen.

I'll probably be asleep by 3 am.

So if you're a fan or Alum of LSU you can't be anywhere but B.R.?

But really, thanks for the heads up. This kind of event can be neat. I'll probably try to get an hour of it in.

Supposed to wake up at 4 for work. I'll allow myself a few minutes to check it out.

Any frequency predictions? Meteors/hr.?
Posted on 8/12/15 at 8:38 pm to Clyde Tipton
NASA site shows 100/hr, but that's in a perfect place, so it depends on where you are. We were seeing 30+/hr last night.

Slight cloud cover over the CHEDBALLz Res..... Hopefully it clears up so I can check it out.
