Looking for the best/most affordable dog trainer in the Baton Rouge area.

I'll be out of town for a week in the next few months and considering just letting somebody train my dog while I'm gone.

Any help is appreciated.

TIA

Behavioral for sure and some obedience. Mainly wanting to cut down on growling at others.

For instance, she is very "protective" of me and feels "safe". If anyone, including my wife, approaches her when she's with me, she can growl. We want to fix this before we start having kids.

It doesn't really work that way. Boy, you sure do like short-cuts.

How in the world do you think they can train your dog to quit growling when she is with you if you are gone? You can drop your dog off and it will learn certain commands but training is for dogs AND people. You have to go to the training too and then continue that training. On top of that you want cheap. Get out of here, you cheap lazy bastard.

As has already been said, this:
quote:

If anyone, including my wife, approaches her when she's with me, she can growl.

Does not work like this:
quote:

considering just letting somebody train my dog while I'm gone.

What you have described sounds very much like a form of resource guarding. This may be corrected with time and effort, but not by someone else in your absence.

I'll second the Larry Benoit and toss in the capital city obediance club. You can arrange with Larry to work with you exclusively.

You need to exercise and socialize her more. It's really that simple. Take her for long walks and then let her mingle while next to you. Rinse and repeat.
