Need some recommendations on quality brands. Seems to be a ton of cheap crap out there. We like the look of the stuff at places like west elm, crate & barrel, etc. no idea how good it is and don't want to pay premium for crap. Thanks in advance.

Antique stuff can be bought at very good prices compared to new crap...

And just got good measure, I'd also like to add.....
It's a lot like when my little brother went through his foot-fetish phase and he was always borrowing my computer to look up foot porn. Yeah we thought about having an intervention for him but we just couldn't explain to my mother how foot-porn could be a real addiction. She just kept saying "he's not drinking or smoking the foot porn, how could he be addicted?". So in the end we didn't do any dramatic intervention or send him off to a rehab or anything but I still feel like maybe we should have. Anyway he eventually grew up and grew out of it, got a pretty nice job working for the state now. Pay isn't the greatest but the benefits are above average and you can't beat the vacation schedule.

I've had good experience with Lazy Boy sofas and recliners.

I like restoration hardware's furniture. We have it in the baby's room. My sister and her husband has some Grange furniture, which they really like.

Henkel harris, harden. Go to a legit furniture store. Not a big box store - they are all crap

West Elm and C&B are more modern in my opinion than Pottery Barn and the like, is that the look you're seeking?
Ballard Designs is good. Some of the online retailers, One Kings Lane, stuff like that, aren't bad. For big box type of retailer, Ashley is probably my favorite among the more traditional ones, although it can be hit or miss.
We target Restoration Hardware, Ballard and Pottery Barn the most, but admittedly all of those are more expensive than C&B and more classic than modern.

Hancock and Moore - the best.

We like the traditional stuff and modern, a bit torn. Our new house is going to feel pretty modern, so I am leaning that way a bit. Mid century modern seems to be booming right now, it's crazy.

Honestly, if you're looking for wood furniture, try angola prison rodeo in the fall. Lots of the same type of stuff, but all real wood made by a person. I've found some awesome accent pieces and plan to buy some outdoor furniture this fall
