I disagree. I read WSJ everyday and I think it leans right.

I may be wrong then. I don't read it as often as others and I do know it is owned by Rupert but this is one of the reasons I always assumed they lean more left.

News: Learning Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation (which owns The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post, the 20th Century Fox studios, and Fox News) donates much more to Democrats than Republicans.

I find it odd Fox News is so far Right but Rupert makes most of his donations to Dems.

Yeah, but his successor has come: John Oliver. He'll be better than Stewart ever was.

I have never watched his show.

I've seen clips, but that's about it.

Now the Colbert Report....I still miss that show. That was such a brilliant character.

Yeah, I miss Colbert far more than I'll miss Jon. I remember in high school just watching Jon's interviews and watch all the Colbert Report. It's going to be really hard for him to overcome that character he created with the Late Show. It's going to start off really awkward because of it, and no one will be able to take him seriously pretty much his first year.

Yeah, if Nixon was to run today, he'd be seen as a liberal pussy by most the Politards.

Absolutely not. He and John Oliver are toxic for political discourse in this country, probably more so than cable news. They can hide behind their medium of comedy to avoid serious debate and use straw men or non sequiturs about taking a dump to make their unintelligent audience laugh under the illusion that the topic makes them high-brow and above the fray. I also don't want to listen to a hypocrite pontificate about minimum wage when has unpaid interns.

Here's a good reflection of his audience:

How far right do you lean?

Most on here would consider Reagan a communist if they hadn't already been trained from birth to worship him.

And it's too bad conservatives haven't done a funny show like Daily Show. I'd watch it. It's all about entertainment and poking fun at things. I disagree with Stewart on some of his race baiting shite but that's life.

And I love how people here blindly hate Maher without realizing how libertarian he is on social issues--meaning he wants the government out of people's private lives. Something conservatives used to care about. Much of his show would be agreeable to conservatives if they hadn't been told he's communist.

Maher rips Muslims and Obama way harder than just about anyone else. I like his show.

You bash political satirists saying they're "toxic for political discourse" but then post a video of a political satirist making fun of a few Obama voters to illustrate a point?

He tears into Muslims shockingly hard and it's awesome. He rails against the drug war and private prisons, and wanta prostitution legalized. All small government stances. Yes, he gets dramatic with the race issues but I'll never agree with everyone about everything, and there's no reason I'd expect to.

Most conservatives on here are smart enough not to paint with such broad strokes like you and Mattz.

Then you must read this board about as much as you read the WSJ.

Nailed it.

I almost said, "using his tactics", before the link.

Oh yeah, arming our citizens with knowledge is a bad thing. And Jon Stewart has hid behind the "comedian" excuse before, but when has Oliver? When has Oliver gotten a basic fact that he's reporting on wrong? His fact checkers are pretty hardcore about backing up their facts much more so than any other major news program, which completely talk out of their arse.

In fact Oliver is really being the only responsible journalist in America by telling the citizens boring things that they need to hear about, while everyone else doesn't give a shite or really report on it. Even better is he can make it highly engaging and entertaining. Not that you've ever seen Oliver's show, but watch his interview with Snowden and tell me the things he's talking about aren't worth reporting: LINK

What the frick are you talking about? That doesn't say anything about his audience. This is just stupid Tea Party bullshite that goes out on mass emails to make the ignorant feel as if they're smart since they know Obama is from Kenya. You're an idiot.

Seriously, I was hoping for something of substance, but it was the stupidest possible link he could have showed us. All it does is make fun of people who think that Obama may have been born in this country. It's pure idiocy.

There are a lot of reasonably intelligent conservative posters on the Poli Board that post regularly, and they far outnumber the stupid ones. It's just cool to be on the OT or on other boards and call them "politards".
