I remember the thread about Ford getting caught. I suppose this poor showing is the result of that bombshell.
I wonder if people who bought models without the structural elements that protect the passenger compartment in a crash can have them installed after the fact. Seems obvious that Ford was trying to pull one over on their consumers and the crash testing agency. A lot of people use these things as family vehicles now.

Yeah, no biggie. I just recalled reading it here.
I posted it a while back, but they did not release the crash tests at the time. Looks like the IIHS engineers were correct in their conclusion that the missing structural bracing was for crash protection.
