Not a lot of places you can land a 777 with international customs (I'm assuming this thing was in the U.S.)

The background makes me think it's Schipohl

Yeah, a few other postings of the same footage mention it's at Schiphol. I thought I recognized it as that runway that's a goodly distance from the terminal. A few times we've taxied forever getting to our gate. My impression is that the far runway is especially roomy. Seems that way anyway.

The fact that your obviously sarcastic comment got 20+ down votes gives me hope for this metro-infused board.

I'll be glad when 777 gets his new vacation home closed, and cleaned up from all the sex to tell us that this is no big deal.

Meh. If he was any good he wouldn't have made it look so hard.

I spent three years flying into the Marseille airport. The Mistral in Provence will blow continuously for days at speeds of 100-120 kph (60 mph or more) or more. They land planes in that no problem, but I can't say it is a lot of fun. The worst/best landing I had was in Paris though. We basically came in sideways with the wings at what felt like was a 45 degree angle to the ground. The whole plane erupted in cheers upon landing - only time that has happened in all my years of flying. The landing was actually quite smooth, but I was literally praying the whole time.

I don think people understand just how huge the 777 and it's engines are.

Compared to the 737 that southwest flies...

Crosswinds and gusts change the game though.

I'm positive the alternative to not landing in 75 mph winds isn't to keep flying forever. We usually get diverted to another airport.
