Last time I left a 18" rim with tire out there and they didn't take it.

This A/C unit is probably 100lbs.

no...I wouldn't think so due to the refrigerant in it...

however, if it still works, just put a sign on it that says so and it will be gone before the trash folks get there anyway...

You could make a perfectly good still with it.

Put it on the curb. Someone will grab it.

This. It'll be gone in no time. Nice little bit of copper there for someone to scrap.

Most civilizations have a local Public Works Department that will collect items that the waste mamagement companies don't such as bulk trash & yard debris. Call & schedule them yo come pick it up. In the meantime, leave it out by the curb & see if it disappears.

BR has a truck that goes around on the same day they do trash and debris pickup and picks up appliances. Pretty sure this qualifies.

Yes the city of BR will take appliances (so called "white goods") as part of trash service.

They may not pick it up with your regular trash but it will get put on the list for appliance pickup.

Same goes for refrigerators, dryers, etc.

Now I have to guess they may not pick up a condensing unit from your central A/C but appliances are a go as far as I know.
