Concealed Handgun Permit Questions

I am looking to get my concealed handgun permit and am filling out the application. It states I need to provide proof of training, and when I looked for a class it just gave a long list of Instructors. Am I suppose to just contact them individually? Anyone recommend an instructor/class? What's the price I should expect for the training? Anything else I should know about filling out the application?
Also what piece do you recommend to carry? Which holster?

A few posters on the OB are instructors. Bapple will probably be in here soon.

$125 at Precision Gun Range includes range fee. It's a state required 9 hour course. At Precision, as soon as the classroom portion is done, you walk over to the range and do the shooting. Everything in one day.
Scott Duet (at Jim's Firearms) and Ernie Gammons are also great instructors.

I'm pretty certain dawg23 is an instructor.
As to the gun, there are a lot of variables. 9mm is an excellent round for carry. Concealable, pretty effective, and has good capacity.
How do you plan on carrying and how much do you want to spend?

Ankle. Not worried about price as long as I can justify it with quality and longevity. Dad got a Ruger .380 with a crimson trace. Looks the part but just wanted to know what others carry.

I'd argue against anything with a laser. If you need you won't have time to turn it on.
Also, I'd try to get you to use an inside the belt holster as an ankle holster is not very accessible.
Finally, lot of people swear by the S&W shield. I haven't shot one so I can't say.

Are you sure you're ready for this?

Even with just a crimson trace,, would take a lot of rubber bands to strap a 308 to the ankle.. He just needs a 243 08.

I only teach in small private groups since I don't have a personal range or anything for me to teach regularly on. Plus I'm an engineer by day.
I can give you information if you need. There are a ton of good instructors out there that can get you the required training.

Have loved my Aliengear for my 9mm Shield (great CC gun, by the way), but since it's the only one I've tried, decided might be something better out there. Got my N82 in yesterday....comfy, yes. Drawing weapon, almost impossible. I know it says that the holster has to wear into then gun some, but twisting the grip into the body that far to release the retention is tough as hell. Aliengear retains well, and snaps straight up to draw...now if I could put the Aliengear Kydex on the N82 pad, that would be the tits. Keep practicing with the N82, or keep the tried and true AG?

Dawg23 teaches a very informative beginners class for concealed carry.
