According to those assholes, we were supposed to have hypersonic passengers jets and the transporter beam any day now.

Flying is just such an unpleasant experience. Check-in, security lines, rude workers, sh*tty seats and sh*ttier food.
If you can fly direct it is alright, but anything with connections is just a huge pain in the arse.
If you are in the northeast the train is the way to go. Anywhere between DC and Boston has great train service. For the rest of the country it is a lot dicier.
