I agree with you StrongSafety. Too much speculation. Hopefully, the bad guy(s) will be apprehended soon.
Anyway, I've never cared for the "hate crime" enhancements. It's too much about criminalizing a person's thoughts and not simply their actions, and that is dangerous territory.
