I severely sprained my ankle playing basketball this morning so I'm unable to attend my families festivities. This really freaking sucks. I'm bored out of my mind, I need my fellow friends at TD to cheer me up.

The rest of my family is at a travel ball tournament. It's just me and the MSNBC Lockup marathon.

I am chilling with the dog. Wife is at work. My day consisted of a morning run, went in to work from from noon to five then the gym for a couple hours . Bored as hell. Have a pint of bourbon, a case of various craft beer and an 1/8 of sticky and for some reason I'm dead sober.

I is,

No better way to spend Independence day than alone right? Isn't that what it's all about?

Truthfully wifey an son went to visit family in Florda, starting new position in my job and didn't want to leave.

To make it worse had to have my 4 year old pup put down today. Pretty shitty day.

Alone, and my depression kicked in about 3 days ago with a vengeance, so just trying to sleep and not eat a bullet.

This is the 5th Independence Day that I have spent alone since the end of a long term relationship and my move back to Northern Virginia. I played golf yesterday; stayed in most of today due to the weather; and will get to see my son tomorrow.

I have come to appreciate my alone time. While part of me would like to be in a relationship again, I am convinced that being alone is far better than being in a bad one. I will never settle just to be part of "a couple".

Over the past few years I have come to realize that living alone is true "independence" rather than something to feel badly or sorry about. I trust that those of you who have spent our Nation's Birthday alone feel the same way.

Happy Independence Day!

Just chillin at home watching TV. Not a big drinker these days. Played a round of golf this morning, went for a run this afternoon, and cooked some jambalaya tonight. A little lonely I guess but that comes with being sober and preferring to feel great in the morning. Don't have any real friends where I'm living now anyways so either way I get somewhat lonely on the weekends anyways.
