It was still stupid to trade Wiggins either way, IMO.
Love leaving after 1 year would have just made it way worse.
How so?
Because it would be smarter to save 15 mill a year with a player that MIGHT MAYBE become an all star one day during the end of LeBrons prime than to get a top 15 player in the league who had just been the only player since the aba\nba merge to average 26\12\4
Delusional man.
I love how everyone discredits Kevin Love getting the TWolves over .500 while averaging 26\12\4 and say it was "empty stats on a shitty team"
but when Wiggins gets on the exact same team and averages 16\4\2 while having the 2nd worst record in the league everyone thinks he is gonna be the next Kobe Bryant

So with this all star cast, Lebrun has no reason not to win the ship next year, right?
If they keep the exact same roster and they don't have 3 of their starters go down. Then yes. They will be the obvious favorite in every playoff series and should win it.
Last season they were 2 games away from winning it all and they were missing their starting pg (all star), starting PF (all star), and starting center (verajo).
Mozgov will be the starter next year I assume but you still have to count that injury

To be fair, Wiggins was a rookie. In Love's rookie season there he put up 11/10.
Wiggins showed flashes and has the potential to be a Kobe Bryant-esque scorer if his game keeps improving.

Barring some sort of continuous injury problems, Wiggins is going to be an All-Star. A lot.

And Love seems to be facing the same fate that Bosh did in Miami. Forever underutilized as a floor-spacing shooter.

I have as high of expectations for Wiggins as just about anyone. I think he's going to be a really, really good player.
And, because LeBron is so awesome, the Cavs were making the Finals either way this season, whether they had Love or Wiggins. And next season. The year after that is in question because of many free agent decisions (Durant, for one).
Forgive me if I think the Cavs are wrong for giving up the chance to have an awesome LeBron for 4-5 more years, and then a really good Wiggins potentially for years after that. Plus, I'm sure all he could learn from LeBron about the game would have been invaluable to his development.
But, obviously, LeBron didn't want to play with Wiggins. He wanted to play with Love. And since he has proven to be SUCH a great GM, I can totally see why all the LeBron supporters were so behind the trade.

So much money for him.
not just him, a lot of other athletes. owners getting paid, agents, etc. The more people give a shite about sports, the more these athletes, owners will get richer.

Even against the Spurs?
I mean, it's too early to tell. But even assuming the Spurs land Aldridge and end up being very good, a healthy Cavs team will be the favorite to win it all going into the post-season.
And they should be the best team.

I get it man. Wiggins looks like he might be good in the future. But we still don't know if it's going to happen.
MCW put up better stats on an equally bad Philly team his rookie season and I don't see anyone jizzing over him.
Wiggins has a lot of work to do on his offensive game if he wants to be like Kobe. Everyone keeps saying he has elite defense already but honestly, he didn't show it in his rookie season. He might have all the tools but he wasn't a good defender last season.
And if he had been with the Cavs he would not progress NEARLY as fast as he will be with the TWolves.
He would have most likely not even started for the Cavs this year.
All I'm saying is. If he becomes an all star, we can have this conversation. Until that occurs, stop acting like he's 100% gonna be a superstar.
When? In the West?? Good Luck.

Where is everyone saying it was stupid to trade Wiggins for him cause he was definitely leaving after 1 year?
I thought Love would leave just based on the amount of minutes TT,LeBron and Love are going to have to split time at PF.
That being said, some dumbasses in here think Wiggins is going to be an all time great player.

It's not a bad thing. It's just like I said before, it's diminishing returns. Love's being paid as the player he can be in optimal circumstances, but this team doesn't need him for that. It's not the best example of efficiently using the salary cap.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have though. That's why you really can't criticize the acquisition too seriously. We're just nitpicking.

Bosh was an important piece for Miami, of course.
Love obviously helps Cleveland, too. In a lot of the same ways, really.

Lakers have been leaking Kevin Love had scheduled a meeting with them since yesterday but it was all bull shite.
I'm not saying you're wrong but... why do this if you are the Lakers? You potentially annoy the player and you falsely raise fan expectations of a real free agent. Seems like a lose-lose unless you just like dicking with idiot members of the media.

He was 19. Of course.
I'm not saying he's going to be Kobe, but he certainly had a better rookie season than Kobe managed in either of his first two seasons. It takes a little bit of time, but shouldn't take much, honestly.
Wiggins also played in all 82 games, which is a good sign.

Not neccesarily saying Lakers management. Maybe LA media members. Trying to get excitement in the fan base and make the Cavs have doubt and possibly stir trouble.
Bill Simmons even talked about it right after the Cavs got Love. Said something similar to.. "There is going to be a ton of misinformation and lies spread all season about the Cavs and Kevin Love to try and break them up. Hoping for a Dwight Howard situation part II"

Kobe was straight out of HS, was on a team that almost won 60 games, and wasn't even a starter. Don't compare their rookie seasons because they were in entirely different situations.
I know this probably isn't even relevant but go look at the last 10 rookies of the years. Note which ones are superstars now. Then note how much better they were than Wiggins was during their rookie seasons.
What Wiggins did this year was nothing special. Again, not saying the kid won't be a beast eventually but to say it's a guarantee is just silly.

Wow
Did they just switch the format to not be divided by conferences anymore? I can't remember.
