It is not hard at all IF you have the correct equipment. A rod turner and a motor are not necessary but help tremendously.
I will tell you that your 1st one will look like crap. The 2nd will look much better but still isn't great. The 3rd one is where it looks like you know what you're doing.

I got sent to Springfield, Missouri for work two or three years ago. I was there for several weeks, so started looking around for something to do outdoors. The internet told me there was one small stream with a wild population of rainbows. I'd never fly fished in my life, other than once or twice for bluegill in a farm pond. But, I headed over to Bass Pro, bought some basic gear, and headed out. I think I caught 5 or 6 of these glorious bastards that day. 
It was fun to try something new, even if they were small.

Thanks! sounds like I should maybe do a couple el-cheapo budget builds before I try to go all in.
