LinkedIn | What do you do when you're endorsed by people you never met?

I have three 'connections' who have endorsed me in randomized skills. I do not recall meeting these people. I accepted their invitations only because sometimes I do forget people through business meetings and casual contacts. I find these endorsements weird to me.
Furthermore, what percent of businesses really look at endorsements or LinkedIn accounts anyway?

99% of the time I ignore everything. It's turned into facebook.

I've desperately been looking for a job recently. I read an entire book (What Color is Your Parachute) on how to get a job. It said that having a good Linkedin page is extremely important. After reading this, I put a lot of effort into my Linkedin page.
One month later, I am still unemployed and ONE person has looked at my LinkedIn page.
So, basically, I'd say do whatever you want with your LinkedIn page, it doesn't make a fricking difference.

I am starting to feel this way. Are there any other sites like LinkedIn which still maintains a professional feel?

I'm in sales, so I have a lot of LinkedIn connections, and I get people who endorse me from time-to-time that I do not know. If they seem normal, and could be a client, then I'll leave it and and send them a thank you. If they're foreign and look shady, then the endorsement gets dropped. All endorsements by hot chicks get to stay.
As far as the endorsements go - nobody cares. It would be more meaningful if you had previous managers or clients write testimonials for you.

however, some dude from mumbai, india has looked at my profile several times. I have to say, I do find that a little bit wierd...

I know the dude who holds the #9 spot for most connections... he's a self-employed, ex-Private Eye in DC.
I use LinkedIn on a daily basis. (I too am in Sales)
eta: anyone every been "stalked" on LinkedIn? There was a dude in Austin who would visit my page on a weekly basis for nearly 6 months... I subtlely bad mouthed his company to one of his clients and I suspect it got back to him.

You have to network on LinkedIn.
Start trying to connect with as many people as you can in the field you want to get into. Then, start liking and commenting on posts that are relevant to what you want to do so that people will see you. Also, are you looking for jobs through LinkedIn? If so, then it's good to have a well-done page.
Recruiters/managers will look at LinkedIn, so it's better to have a good looking page, and not one that's plain and generic.

A co-worker and I were just making fun of those people today.
I immediately disregard anything someone with L.I.O.N. next to their name.

Yes. Yes, they will.
So how do you like working for XYZ company? Do you like it? I have an opportunity with ABC. How much are you making now? Do you know anyone else interested in a position with XYZ?

Jobs are like women, when you aren't desperate, they're everywhere.
In fact, when I decided on this most recent gig I had to weigh 3 offers
