We finally won a game in Omaha at the new ballpark, awesome! It took us four games but we finally got the big win. Unfortunately, we couldn't build on that momentum from Tuesday and the season ended last night.
I am proud of our Tigers. They just finished their season 54-12, an amazing record for a team most people expected to be good not great in 2015. Admit it, there were several surprises this season including:
- 130 Stolen bases, 38 from Bregman alone (3 others had 23 or more)
- #2 Overall Seed in the Post-Season
- Chris Chinea hitting like a demon possessed and finishing the season leading the team with 11 HRs and 58 RBIs
- Jared Foster hitting bombs during SEC play and becoming the STARTING 2B.
- Alex Lange becoming the NEXT big thing in Baton Rouge
- LSU finishing the season with a .314 Team BA, one of the best in the country
- LSU hit their way through SEC play winning the overall title with a 21-8 SEC record
- Jesse Stallings and Doug Norman giving us hope for the bullpen's future
- Jake Latz and Jake Godfrey being all but non-existent in 2015 when most expected them to be in the rotation. (Just wait until they start in 2016)
Yet, we lose in Omaha early and without a title and some fans just see it as a bad season. I have ever heard people call for CPM's head and what not. Uh?
Outside of the first season with LSU, with a team full of Smoke's leftovers, Coach Paul brought in a load of young kids that would lay the ground work for years to come. Smoke ran us into the ground and he brought us back to life in one year.
His first recruiting class eventually led to his one and only CWS Title in 2009. He brought in Blake Dean, Ryan Schimpf, Jared Mitchell (convinced him to go baseball full time over football), Sean Ochinko, and Paul Bertuccini. He then brought in Leon Landry, DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Ranaudo, and Micah Gibbs.
In 9 seasons, he has never dropped below .500 and has won 54 or more games, three times. He has won 414 and lost only 161 with three ties. That in itself is amazing!
It is very hard to win a CWS title these days simply because college baseball doesn't get the funding that basketball and football does outside of LSU and the SEC. The scholarships are always being cut back and MLB can still steal kids out of high school. Yet somehow, CPM has these kids winning, year after year.
LSU didn't win a title in 2015 after such a great run. This shouldn't be the tagline of a great season rather motivation to come back stronger in 2016.
Cut the guy some slack and appreciate what we have before he retires and then we begin the USCe epic collapse under new management. Then the fans might really lose their minds.
Coach K gets credit for being one of the best of all time yet prior to 2010, he led them to the Final Four 10 times with only 3 titles. Give CPM time and things will happen. Trust me

You morons are just noting getting it.
Stop posting about the fricking "big picture" shite. We get it....
But that doesn't mean PM didn't make some really dumb decisions as a coach and should not be held accountable. He is happy to tell you by name who made errors and didn't pitch well.....but, if you question his coaching, its always "We"... Never says I.
Dude has become a fricking clown in the dugout.

Miles takes his share of shite on here (much of which is deserved), but one thing Miles HAS NEVER DONE is throw his kids under the bus, or deflect responsibility when he fricks up.
I'd find Paul to be far more palatable if he took a page from Miles' book when it comes to accountability and knowing where the buck stops.

The team wasn't built to win in the post season. You can win all the series that you want, but we consistently don't show up in the post season when we have to play more than 3 games a week and that's the only thing that will ever matter.

The only time we played more than 3 games a week was during the regular season.

Serious questions..
In 2011 LSU arguably had one of the greatest college football teams of all time.
True or False?
Now what do YOU remember about the 2011 season? What does history remember about LSU in the 2011 season?
I remember the epic failure and I am literally embarrassed to wear a NC game shirt I have from that game.
Doesn't mean LSU didn't have a absolutely great season.
Now ask anyone that is not an LSU fan about that season.. They will talk about how great a team Alabama was.... LSU is forgotten. (Unless its the punchline to a joke)
How many people will remember that LSU was the #1 team in the baseball most of the season and won the SEC? Wont be many. Not even in the SEC once an SEC team wins the NC. History will forget this team and LSU fans will remember it as a disappointment. If that is right or wrong doesn't matter. Its just the way it is.

Congratulations to the coaching staff and the entire team. I hope it was a fun year and also hope they don't read this disrespectful crap.
You people are horrible. A fun year in which I would not have given one chance to go to the cws.
Thanks to all again.
