More powerful hardware than current systems in order to still be competitive when future hardware comes out. How much more powerful will depend on if MSFT and Sony plan to stick with their 10 year model.

Unified account system with handheld.

Improved online infrastructure.

Quality 1st party titles.

3rd party multi plat support.

If they delivered all this the tide could quickly turn in the console wars IMO. If all the systems have relatively equally powered hardware and functionality, people will look at the exclusives. And Nintendo has by far the most valuable first party exclusives and it's not even close. The fact that they've managed to stay somewhat relevant with just those games is unreal

I'm not sure how important exclusives are these days.

What? While I do enjoy enjoy Nintendo's. I rather the exclusives from Sony and Microsoft.

I think a more accurate statement is that Nintendo's exclusives have the highest market appeal and therefore sales potential. A lot of reliance on casual fans to push them any higher than Halo, Gears, or Uncharted.
