anything David Chang does is "newsworthy" in the "foodiesphere"
this wasn't on Foxnews or CNN, it was on Eater...

Chik-Fil-A newsworthy when they open a new location?
There were at least three different threads on this board about the Chik-fil-a in Prairieville opening.

That's the point. This has been done before. Is Chik-Fil-A newsworthy when they open a new location?
If Bobby Flay, Thomas Keller, Alice Waters, Anthony Bourdain, Wylie Dufresen, Jean Georges, or any other "celebrity" chef opened any kind of chain or restaurant, then yes... it would certainly be newsworthy regardless of the concept. In fact, the fact that it's such a simple concept actually makes it more newsworthy.
David Chang is opening a restaurant that serves chicken sandwich, fries, and a salad.. and that's it? Yes. That's newsworthy on a Food and Drink board.
Whether the concept works or not remains to be seen. The market will tell. I, personally, hate the trend of celebrity chefs starting to roll out mass numbers of chain style restaurants as I think it's absolutely impossible to, across multiple locations, maintain the quality that the made the chef famous in the first place.
