Fly Fishing for reds

I'm new to fly fishing but I've caught a few bass and a bunch of bream. I'm taking the fly rod and the yak out to St. Augustine tomorrow morning, any fly suggestions?

Fly fishing out of a yak sounds difficult

I can barely do it when I'm not in a yak.

Crabs are emerging right now so almost any crab pattern will be productive. I've seen them in just about every color phase so as long as you have your sink rate where you want it then it you shouldn't have too much of an issue getting them to eat.
My favorite summer flies are Kwans and merkin crabs in natural colors with bead chain eyes. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to keep something flashy and gold in the fly box. I also like gold gotchas and blue/crystal flash gotchas.
The early morning popper bite has been pretty good if you want to throw a pole dancer or gurgler.

Why can't you go by yourself?

Maybe a popper early and late in the afternoon.

I took the free Saturday morning class at Orvis a few weeks ago. It was helpful. Youtube videos are a great source of info.
The next class in the series is next weekend.

I went for my first time yesterday and was humbled. I'm pretty good with a 5 wt so I thought I'd immediately pick up shooting 50 feet of line at moving redfish out of a kayak. Didn't quite work out that way though . I was in the middle of tons of reds, but I had a real problem with them seeing me before I saw them. Also putting down the paddle/pole and picking up the rod seemed to spook them a lot more than I expected. My Costa 580s are solid glasses, but I'm wondering if the polarization has diminished.
Anyways, to the OP, I'd bring a conventional reel too in case if you have the trouble I did. That way you can keep practicing without getting discouraged. I managed to boat a few with my baitcaster after about 3 hours of spooking fish flyfishing. I'm going to keep trying the fly but bring the baitcaster too so I don't end up skunked too often.

That was the plan...I'm catching fish first, falling out of my kayak and losing my fly rod on oyster beds later.
Thanks for the suggestions all. I'll pick a few crab patterns and some flashy looking stuff tonight.

I know nothing about St. Aug., but here in LA, chartreuse clousers and pink charlies are the standard fly for reds or specks. Also gold spoons.
