The story of a man who walked into Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Friday carrying a loaded AR-15 semiautomatic rifle has gone viral. And here’s the most amazing part of it: his actions were completely legal, thanks to Georgia’s gun laws. Passed in 2014, the HB 512 Safe Carry Protection Act allows people to openly carry a rifle in an airport, so long as they don’t try to go through security.

The armed Cooley was dropping his daughter off for a flight, when police officers approached Cooley, asking why he was carrying a semiautomatic weapon with an extended capacity 100-round drum.

His response? “Safety.”

Pussy liberals are going to jump all over this. I just have one question. When was the last mass shooting in Georgia? I'll hang up and listen.

There isn't a bigger 2nd Amendment supporter than me but this is "stupid is as stupid does" if there's ever been a case.

He just made an airport full of converts to the anti-gun movement. I don't think that was what he intended.

Definitely one of those situations where just because you can do it doesn't mean you should. These types do not realize how uncomfortable, nor do they care, they make people. On top of that, you're making yourself a target.

Maybe he takes the back way into the airport and travels through College Park proper, if so he would need more than that AR.

No shite. If you don't throw those baggage handlers at the curb a $1 tip, sometimes they give you the stink eye. Nothing like a loaded AR-15 to put an end to that shite.

He was so preoccupied with whether or not he could, that he didn't stop to think whether or not he should.

So stupid.

In 2015 America, even in Atlanta, there is no reason to carry a rifle with a 100 round drum into an airport...even if it is legal.
