Didn't Stannis already burn his uncle-in-law for treason and good sailing winds to Eastwatch?

This couldn't have been a big surprise.

I don't think it was a big surprise. Heck the episode leaked early on Sunday and the word about the burning spread so to a lot of people it wasn't a surprise at all.

But something doesn't have to surprise you for you to dislike it. (not speaking particularly to you here but I've seen a ton of posts across the internet saying something like "why are people so angry. They knew or should have known it was coming" and I don't get them conflating the two concepts.

However, I also think there is a difference between being angry at the act itself (ie: angry at what is happening on the show) and being angry at the writers/producers for making that a part of their show.

I think one have to be pretty far gone morally to NOT be angry at an intelligent, innocent and pleasant 11 year old girl being burned to death by her father. But being angry at the writers/producers, etc. is a totally different question.

Yep, and he burned 3-4 men in the books, right there in the snow.
