Salmon, was your wife fully on board or did it take some convincing to go on that first spouse only weekend? I want to enjoy ourselves as just a married couple, but would feel bad if my wife spent the whole time worrying/missing our daughter.

If she is not nursing, then I would not have an issue taking 3 days at her age (or even a week), provided you are very comfortable with the sitter arrangements - I assume the grandparents.

She was worried about having to keep to her pump schedule and if our daughter would take a bottle every time, since at that time it was always hit or miss if our daughter would take a bottle

other than that, she was fine with it

Its just 3 days. We left my son with the grandparents when he was 8 weeks old for a few days. Yes we missed him and she swore never to leave him again. We had a baby monitor we could watch him over the internet though.

Since then though he has gotten a passport when he was 6 months old and has made 15 plus flights and visited 5 countries before he turned 3. But yea... If you can take a trip alone do it. It will probably be another couple of years before my wife will ask the grandparents to watch them again for me.

here shortly, hang tight, they'll tell you what the right answer is

I have no idea on that one, some women get really uptight about leaving their kids

Example....one of my friends.....her poor husband has been trying to get them to take a romantic trip away from the kids since their daughters were born. Now their girls are like 7 and 5 and she is about to have another one....and he has yet to get that getaway without the kids. Her own mother has offered to watch them and she still refuses.

either take the kid and a babysitter with you or just leave the kid at home with the in laws. If you have enough milk in the freezer then you're good there.

is 10 months too young to leave our baby with family for a few nights?

Also, by 10 months I would assume they baby will be walking or close to walking....make sure you leave her with someone that will watch every move she makes....at that age they can get into some mischief if you don't watch them closely.

We took a week long trip to NYC when our kid was 7 months old. She stayed with my wifes parents and everything was fine.

My wife did spring up out of her sleep in the middle of the night a few times asking where our daughter was at though

I make sure the grandparents keep my kid at least 1 weekend per month. I use one day to get shite done and the other time to regain my sanity and catch up on DVR/Netflix.

this is my sister

her kids are 4 and 2 (twins) and she won't let anyone watch them over night

she always gives me grief when we drop our daughter off at my moms for a week

I've left mine with the in-laws around the same age, never had a problem. The more frequent you do it, the better off you will be in the future as far as the separation anxiety goes. I'll also tell you that it's imperative in a relationship to get away by yourselves every now and then to be husband and wife, not just mom and dad..

Well, she's not overly attached like that, but I just brought up the topic with her. Our daughter so far has been very easy. Happy, sleeps through the night 90% of the time, never really fussy outside of eating time. Because of this, her response was "Well she's such a good baby and too little to run off that we can probably bring her with us and be fine". Maybe next year

We've got a freezer filling up with "liquid gold"

You too? Our son will be 4 months old tomorrow. In the first month I was continually beaten by falling frozen milk bags every time I opened the freezer. It got so bad we had to buy a deep freeze and now I can't find anything in it because of all the "liquid gold". I'll just be glad when he moves on to solid food so I can use the freezer for its real purpose...meat.

Managed to ditch my 7 month old kid at my in laws for memorial day weekend.

She has spent a night or two at the in laws on a few occassions including a weekend away for us to go on a ski trip with friends in February.

If you got good trustworthy parents, I don't see any harm in it. My wife was for it. Bottle fed, so food wasn't an issue. This is my wife's parents first grandchild, so they beg for her to come stay with them occassionally. It's my parents 8th, so they don't care too much anymore, lol.

Same here . Once we're at solid food I'm turning my chest freezer into a Keezer for the homebrew.
