Takes a brave man to buy a first year motor!

cost of engine, cost of fuel, cost of maintenance--I just don't see it.

One guy that works with us using his dodge for mostly road miles and claims he gets 23 mpg out of his hemi. The diesel is only claiming 28

I am Ford and Toyota man but those Dodges are a pretty good bit cheaper. I can't get over the quality reputation of Dodge being so bad. Fiat has a poor reputation worldwide.

Just looking for real life stories to tell the guy.

Can't have shutdowns. That alone is enough to not buy one. Just think how reliable gas engines are now. I can't remember the last time a vehicle let me down on the road. I run em to at least 200K miles too.

I honestly think that the government purposely tried to destruct diesels by all of their new standards. I mean, every company that runs any kind of diesel has had major problems with catastrophic engine failures

I've had one since November. No problems so far with 12000 miles. I love it. All I pull is my boat and it's plenty big enough for that. I bought it for the longevity of a Diesel engine. Had a 2011 ram with the hemi that I kept for my son. I sit in I12 traffic two ways every day and am averaging 24 mpg. On the way to and from the camp I'm getting around 29.

Unless you're towing a lot (daily) or putting very high miles on a vehicle, it's hard to get a diesel to pay off. With fuel prices where they are now it's very hard.
