Maybe the language I used was reductive. Obviously, if you're renting an apartment, and they have an electric stove, that's what you're stuck with. I'm talking people who bought their homes and decided which appliances to buy. How many restaurants use electric stoves? None, because they take forever to heat up. If you're trying to cook a three course meal, I feel the electric stove can just completely ruin the timing. So, I feel that they are for people that can't or do not want to cook anything more than a pot of kraft macaroni and cheesse.
Also, if you can't find a lighter, it's a huge pain in the arse to light a joint on an electric stove.

Depends upon what you get used to. I cook quite well on both. I choose to live in an all-electric home so it really doesn't bother me at all.
