How common is it for people to drink in the morning?

I don't think you understand what my post was about.
Or did I hit a nerve with this post? You reading this with your morning Chardonnay?

Jet lag. It's like 5:15 p.m. to these people, happy hour.

I always start my flights to Vegas off with drinks at the airport no matter what hour. And I'll have an occasional bloody mary before a round of golf.

The airport is 100% the exception to morning drinking during the work week.
I'm in business, successful, and don't drink in the morning during the work week except in the airport.
For me it's not that I'm nervous about flying, I have zero fear of it, my issue, and most others' as well, is that flying is absolutely miserable. You're packed into an aluminum tube at high pressure with no humidity like sardines, shoulder to shoulder with the dregs of humanity, getting harrassd by post-menopausal stewardesses, having to smell raghead body odor, endure people dropping bags on you, fatasses slopping their blubber over into your seat, getting cramps, etc. I just need something to take the edge off of it and to distance myself from the terrible reality of my situation being trapped in a tube with slobs for the next 3-4 hours.

For people that work nights 11pm-7am it is very common.
Airports are a different animal, many folks are on vacation or need a few drinks to settle their nerves or help them sleep on the floght

I think people get a pass on drinking when it comes to air-travel. I'd definitely have a beer or cocktail before boarding. Doesn't matter what time of day it is.
As far as home goes, I've known a few dock workers to have a beer & egg before heading off to work.

Flying was always an excuse to get loaded at anytime of day. As time progressed, getting out of bed was an excuse to get loaded in the morning. Usually to avoid feeling like shite.

Airplane travel when you don't have business the same day is the exception. If I am flying intercontinental, there is a pill involved too, I love sleeping away a long flight courtesy of the duo of Glenlivet and opioid. The problem of Jet lag is then solved after eight or ten hours of that sleep too.

Everytime I fall asleep on a flight. I have a nightmare.
