This is about the 5th thread I've seen about concrete, where there was no end of disagreement on how much was needed and how much it would cost.
What is it about concrete that brings out such confusion?

It's like a lot of things. People do it once and they are now experts. Even if it was 10 years ago and the memory is a bit fuzzy. Good enough for the internet anyway.

Concrete is used in so many different ways, if I poured concrete for a patio the same way I do for an industrial foundation or a bridge cap it would be overkill, but seeing as how I build large machine foundations and bridges for a living I tend to use and recommend those practices. Others who do more flatwork tend to recommend the way they do it.
