Shaq was really thin in high school
ETA: but this kid is like 6'5" tops so that's different

Actually still a freshman for the moment, has 3 more years of basketball in high school.
Next year is the year he can put his name on the map, supposedly he had just ho hum stats this year.

Short highlight video and the gyms were empty so can't look too much onto it
Looked very explosive and very aggressive. No way he's 6'8
Good to see shaq there for his son. I know his biological father abandoned him,and he was very fortunate to have his father step in and mold him all with dale

if my dad had his own statue at a university, i'd probably pick a different one so that I can become their legend.

Yeah, MaxPreps has him at 6'7"-8", but unless everyone on that court is at least 6'5" I'm not buying it.
That said, he still has a few years to grow.

Heard Shaq on DP the other day. He stated he was 6'8 and shoots FTs no problem.

His big boost came when he was 17 for his HS senior season; going from about 6'9" to just shy of 7'. He was still on 17 when he began playing for LSU, turning 18 during the early part of '90. In other words, he had that sensational game against LMU when he had just turned 18. Incredible. He had also crept slightly over the 7' mark by his 18th birthday. Still time for his young'n to spurt upward.
