Why didn't Missouri walk Fraley to load the bases?

There was nobody out, a double play wasn't in order so walking Fraley only sets up your odds worse because now a walk ends the game.

they didn't want to face Chinea one of LSUs best hitters, you strike Fraley out or get him to ground out, you walk Chinea and face the 8 and 9 hitters in LSUs lineup.

BRB. I'll go call Missouri's head coach and let you know his thought process.

they were tired and were ready to get out of Baton Rouge.

That would have been the right move. Missouri had a right hander on the mound and that favored left handed hitting Fraley. A slow running Chinea was on deck.

go look at the stats on runs scoring with no one out and the bases loaded versus no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd
expected runs go up like 25% if you load the bases, presumably in part because a walk now scores a run

Also Fraley has one of the lower averages on the team

yeah i really think they were trying to get fraley on a strikeout or groundout with the infield in and then would have walked chinea.

We had no outs and Fraley hasn't been swinging the bat nearly as well as chinea. We made a similar move in the top of the 10th (although Missouri had guys on 1st and 3rd with no outs as opposed to our 2nd and 3rd). And we got a ground out, intentional walk, and then a dp. I think they made the correct call by pitching to fraley, even though it didn't work out.

Pitching to Fraley is much better than pitching to Chinea with bases juiced and no outs. Fraley had two ground ball hits all weekend if I remember right

Its all a crap shoot and Tim jamieson lost this one. I would have walked Fraley and set up a force at home and a righthand on righthand pitching/hitting situation with Chinea.
Tim picked his posion with Fraley

Let me see if I am doing this right….
"Because PM went over and coached Missouri in the bottom of the 10th"
"Because Fire Javi"
Basically they were in a low percentage situation all the way around. At that point, you identify the player who you think you have the best chance to get out. If Fraley doesn't end the game, they walk Chinea to then load the bases and see what happens. They were basically dancing around land mines at that point and Fraley blew their leg off.
