Godchaux would take Bain's place as the Strongside defensive end, swallowing offensive lineman whole in the process.

That's what I would like to see. What an imposing Dline that would be. Locoture and Valentine at DT, Godchaux and perhaps Bowers (or whoever wins that spot) at the other DE would be beastly.

I thought they were going to convert him back to DE.

I think it is his more natural position, just was necessary for him to play DT last year due to really no one else (other than Locoture who seems to be very under rated by some of our fans judging by the posts on here)

Only thing I have to go by on Valentine is a coach telling me that he was destroying the OL during practice. Didn't speak of any other DL. Maybe the other 4 were better. Take it for what it's worth

Well, he was not as good as Lacouture last year. Maybe next year. He does seem to have a lot of potential. Lacouture is a lot better than most people on here realize. He's definitely our best DT at this time, and it's not close.

Lol at knuckleheads assuming Valentine would beat out either of our starters.

Lacatour has started since he was a freshman, but he's white so he doesn't get rant street cred.

Yup.

Valentine may very well end up being an All-American, but people predicting that are doing it based on nothing.

So has Godchaux

Lac started 10 games as a true freshman. Godchaux started 10 games as a true freshman. Lac had 11 tackles as a true freshman and started all 13 games this past season and had 40 tackles as a sophomore. Godchaux had 42 tackles as a true freshman with 10 starts. So in 23 starts Lac had 51tackles. In just 10 starts, Godchaux had 42 tackles.

I like Lac a lot, he's a very solid player and I do agree is a bit underrated by our fans. But IMO, Godchaux is just better. He's wayyyy more disruptive and explosive off the line and does a very good job at shedding blocks, making himself narrow and getting through tight spaces, and making the play. The only thing Lac does better is he's better vs the pass and getting to the QB. He's had like 3.5sacks over the past 2 seasons. Godchaux didn't get a sack his freshman year, but I expect him to get after the QB this coming season.

All I know is that it's great to finally have 2 good DTs again, hopefully 3 with Valentine. Gonna be awesome, especially for our LBers. Our DTs free up the LBers and it's awesome to see Beckwith running free, as well as LL. And I can't wait to see Debo out there using his speed and running free as well. Should be a fun year defensively.

Just think when we go to 3-4 looks during games. Bain DE, Valentine DT, and Godchaux DE. That is going to be some nasty shite and tons of beef and athleticism.

You homers are really amusing. Lacoutre in no way, shape, or form demands a double team and Valentine has never played a down yet.

That was an excellent analysis of what Godchaux does well. You missed on Lacouture, though. Getting to the QB is NOT his forte. Godchaux is better at that, too. That goes with his superiority at getting oenetration.

Lacouture excels at playing both gaps. He maintains position, even when doubled, and keeps our LBs clean. That doesn't result in stats, but it's what Chief valued most.

Godchaux is more feast-or-famine. He'll use his quickness to shoot gaps. That penetration will give him some big plays. But it will also give up big plays when he gets trapped. That happened A LOT last year. But hell, he was in his first year. He'll get better as he gets more disciplined.

I really like both guys. Like Jalen Collins, many posters will only appreciate Lacouture when his draft grades start coming out.

according to his bio, no he didn't. Freak started every game, Ego started every reg season game, and QT started the bowl in Ego's place. Lac was firmly in the rotation though.

carry on.

WOW! Really? Name me one better white player who did not start over a less talented black player at LSU. And Beckwith says hello David.
