I thought Qatar was a shining beacon of democracy

On top of the labor criticism, Qatar has been accused of paying $5 million in bribes to win the World Cup bid.
It's waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than that

In before RT article and a bunch of PSG bashing

I blame FFP.
If PSG's owner was allowed to spend as much money on players as he sees fit, then he wouldn't have as much money to bribe FIFA officials with. Right, DS?

More and more shite is going to come out about all of this, however, FIFA will do nothing.
What are the chances of, say, 30 of the top 50 major football powers putting their money where their mouths are and pulling out of this shite show? Hold their own tournament in the U.S. or U.K. I bet it would only take a couple big names to go for this before all the dominos would fall.

Meh, Qatar got the WC nearly 2 years before PSG was taken over.

I'm damn serious.
All it takes is one domino to fall.
Events of the last few days could go a long way toward starting that first domino.
I can't imagine any country that cares about human rights participating in a Qatar World Cup that has killed 4000 "workers" (really slaves) in the run up. Hundreds have died already, 7 years out.

I also view this as a possibility if the 2020 WC doesn't get de-railed another way first. A successful boycott would only take 5-10 major powers to be successful. France, Germany, Spain, and Netherlands have major influence and they are also susceptible to citizen protests. The US, UK, and Australia would join in since they are pissed at the World Cup selection process and other European powers like Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium would ride the wave. Who knows what other countries would join the boycott at that point?
