When did you get on the Miles bandwagon and respect his talent as a HC?

I must confess it was the Sugar Bowl last year. When Les said "his QB was better" and the team waxed Notre Dame, I was on board. Nick going to Bama didn't hurt.

I think the man took the job in almost an impossible situation and has done better than most of us expected.

After the classy and dignified way he handled the aftermath of Katrina. With the unbelievable distractions caused by that catastrophic event, and how it clearly affected the team in 2005, he certainly got my respect both as a coach and a man. To finish 9-1 with everything that happened then, and in particular to a great many of the players families, well, I don't know what else can be said.....

When I made the road trip to Arizona State. That was an awesome game, and after what the players had been through, I knew we had a coach.

I too was on the wagon after AZ St but after the Tenn game I began to waffle. I saw LSU play Arkansas before the SECCG and was not impressed. I didn't know (at the time) the team was completed worn out from the season. I was pumped after the Peach bowl but waivered after the AU game (Not the UF game) Our offense was horrible! I was impressed with Arkansas win in 2006. (I was there) But after the Sugar bowl I was completely sold.

Les is a good man. The fact he loves his players and they love him is big. I will put up with his hat and dramatic speech. (Like captian James T Kirk) "We muuust score and win the game!!!". Hester was quoted as saying he laid it all out because Les had confidence in him. You can't buy that stuff. Even if you wear Forrest Gump uniforms. Long live "The Hat"!

I was sold on Miles' character during the 2001 season after Katrina and Rita. I was sold on his coaching when I heard that he was a big reason Jimbo was leaving town.

Like a lot of fans, I took the wait and see approach with guarded optimism. While I was waiting, positives kept appearing; ie. win at ASU, Miami Blowout, recruitment of Ryan P. There were some setbacks of course; the loss to Tenn., Georgia-SECCG, Joe McKnight. Those were things I could live with because at the end of both seasons we were 10-2 with a Big Bowl Win and ranked in the top 5. The more I saw the "HAT" the more I liked; his confidence in himself, his coaches, his players, his system,... I admire the honesty of what he percieves to be true, even when it comes off as being arrogant....I love the fact that he has the respect of his players....I think it's cool that he has a since of humor...

At this point I feel that Miles is managing a 'Program', not just coaching a team. I'd love to win them all, but realisticly, if we lost one to a good team that was also well coached and evenly talented, I wouldn't put a for sale sign in his yard. I'd love to win the MNC, but I would be OK with a SECC. If saying that gets me labeled as settling for less then so be it. However, I refuse to say "MNC or bust".

Miles has grown on me, like he has many; not like a rash or fungus, but more like a finely groomed, distinguished beard. I don't know the exact moment it happened, but I believe in 'em.

Well said

I o not think anyone should feel MNC or bust, it is just to hard to win one. SOOOOO many things have to go your way over the course of a season and some of those are beyond a coaches control. Les has this program set up to be the Elite team in the SEC west and maybe the SEC as a whole for a good run. That makes it good to be a Tiger... how far away do the Hullman days feel right now?

I'd say I truly believed in him in 2005 after we waxed Miami in the Peach bowl. I was a bit bummed when we lost the SEC Championship game (despite recognizing that it was great being there to begin with), but that blowout really brought my spirits up and basically everything from then on has reaffirmed my faith in Les.

I like Miles a lot and want like hell for him to be a success. This is a big year for him.
I will be disappointed if we don't win 10.

Actually for me it was before his first game. It was spring semester of my Freshman year, he came around to most of the dorms on campus with his family and met with the students. Basically just to say "hey and that he was glad to be here".

I enjoy his passion and love for LSU almost as much as his on the field demeanor and coaching. It's basically unheard of in major college football coaching these days.

Are you John Kerry with all that flipping and flopping?

"I was for Les Miles before I was against him before I was for him."

I think I started to believe in his way his first year when he lead us to a great season despite the obstacles of the Katrina year.

I was confused and wondering what to think in 07 with all the misinformation the week after the Arkansas loss leading up to the SEC championship game with the rumors of his leaving for Michigan.

Standing outside the Georgia Dome listening to his emotional speech about sticking with LSU and calling out Kirk herbstriet won me over completly and then the win in the game later that day and the events that transpired later that night and then a month later were simply icing on the cake.

That right there, which came to a head before the 2007 SECCG. He had me at "Damn Strong!"

This is just gravy. You can't fake sincerity. He cares for his players and it's not an act. That's why he's such a great recruiter. It's also why folks who don't follow the program closely can't figure out why he's such a great recruiter.

Les is here to stay...and I'm grateful for that.
