Every year there is "that guy" that the fan base goes nuts for in training camp for a variety of reasons. Sometimes its guys that have no shot of making the team, like Onome Ojo. But sometimes it is a draft pick that just lights it up.

My pick for "Beast" this year is Davis Tull:

White Dude. Check.

Played at a small school so most people won't have ever seen him until training camp. Not only a small school, but FCS.

Was a 4 year starter and highly productive. He will come in ready to tear it up and will be pretty polished.

Plays a position and role that we need help at and should see plenty of reps. It is also a very "noticeable" position getting after the QB. It will show up in Preseason for sure.

Guy is going to light up training camp and the preseason against 3rd stringers and fans are going to be creaming over him.

Brandin Cooks lit up training camp, as did Nick Toon.

It told us more about our secondary in the long run than them.

But I can't think of a late round pick or UDFA that everyone was going gaga about.

could go with Powell as well since he had the 5 star resume from HS and then lit it up in that first preseason game, people started getting excited.

Tull would have gone to a bigger college if not for a broken leg. Seems like a pretty good pick for training camp beast. Has good ability, smart, and relentless.

Pierre Warren played great the entire training camp. Kasim Edebali played well also.

Pierre Warren is a guy I'm excited about again. Hopefully he keeps developing.

So is he the Onome Ojo / Mike Haas of this year's class?

Hard for me to get behind a 4-5 round guy for the Ojo. I will look to the UDFA and pick Bobby Richardson.

I know I am in the minority, and I hope I'm wrong, but I don't get the Tull-will-be-great vibe.

As a matter of fact, I get the Margus Hunt-type vibe.

When everyone was touting this 6-8, 280 lb 4.6 speed "beast", I kept watching Hunt's YouTube draft spotlight footage and I rarely saw him make a play. Sometimes I thought it was a highlight reel for the OT he was facing, it was that blatant.

When I watch Tull in his games against Div 1 teams, he rarely shows any beast qualities. I think against Tennessee, he made one nice sack, and 4 RB tackles. The other 40 plays, he was a non-factor with hardly any push or disruption. Rinse and repeat for the other Div 1 highlights he has against Indiana St and Tenn Tech.

Whereas, against Div 2 teams, there is a highlight reel sack compilation that makes you think Tull's the next Clay Matthews.

I hope the latter is true.

That's not a very bold pick. If you know anything about him coming into the draft you knew wherever he went he was going to ball out. Should be in the mix for PT this year

Good call. I still cannot believe that this guy not only wasn't selected for the 53, but after being put on the Practice Squad, he was cut after a couple of weeks. I get that the reason we need a spot on the PS, was to sign a LB because of Hawthrone's injury, but you would think there were other guys that you could have cut before him.

Very strange.
We were all face palming at that.

The fact that he's still on the team is more dumb luck than anything else.

dude is coming off labrum surgery. It may take him a little longer to reach beast mode than some of the guys at 100%. plus he was a draft pick. Im going with an undrafted free agent to be "that guy"
