Absolutely, LT is the hardest position to find at the NFL level, you cant make one and you cant plug in an athletic Guard, either you can play that position or you cant. That's always going to be a commodity, plus a year to get bigger and stronger and work with a position coach.
And he could stay at LSU and bang coeds
He has already signed with an "agent" so he can go back to LSU. Plus the deadline to back out of early entry into the draft is long past.

Didn't he sign with the Cash Money team?
I know he signed with Deryk Gilmore from Priority Sports initially but everything you read now alludes to Jim Boren representing him. Boren is a lawyer, albeit a great one, but he's not an agent who knows the NFL. Looks like DJ Fluker is a Gilmore client.
I can't remember a player situation being handled this poorly. Every decision his team has made has been a head scratcher.

Yep, but LSU always honors football scholarship recipients with 4 years of benefits.
He cant play for LSU but he can attend classes and use the facilities.

Jim is primarily a criminal defense attorney so I assumed he hired Jim for the criminal investigation aspects.

I wish he could enroll in grad school and by some miracle that cannot happen be granted a 5th year.

Terrible move.
I know right, like the others from the thread last night, I too feel sorry for him. I mean he's gonna be at least a single digit Millionaire in his early 20's, with a decent chance to become a double digit Millionaire by his mid 20's, at a job that he probably loves more than any other. Poor kid !

From @PrioritySports: La'el Collins won't sign with a team and will wait for next year's draft if he's not selected tonight (Rds 2-3)
Thats kinda what I've been thinking since last night....
Earlier I said:

I agree for the most part. Initially, I said anything after the 4th and I would heavily consider not signing but he's got some big decisions coming his way.

Is this really a dumb move? I mean shite this guy is no doubt going to be a first rounder next year.
No...I don't think it's dumb at all.
I think it's probably a bigger risk to play under a 4 year contract totaling 2.2 million with no guaranteed money when you can sit out a year and go no later than 2nd round next year.
CFL is always an option as well for $80 or $90K if need be.

People familiar with NFL salary rules: Is there a max value that an undrafted free agent can earn? Do they have a max cap value like the drafted players?
If not, Collins could actually be well served to avoid getting drafted. It'll give him some time to prove his innocence and come out of this as a 1st round talent with no team and a wide open bidding war for his services. He'd probably still lose out on some money had he gone where he was originally slotted, but this might be a good way to avoid getting a low round max contract offer.

He's represented by agents that are apart of cash money Inc. Worst decision ever. they really have screwed him over

I guess you haven't turned a TV on today. It will not work like this.

quote:Yes, but he can incentives of course he will not earn millions but it will be a 3 year deal for maybe close to half a million a year.

Yes, yes it is.
and there is no scenario in which he is a first round pick next year.

No, there are no guarantees which is why it is a hard decision.
But, you either take risks on a four year shitty contract or take risks for one year and gamble on yourself you will significantly improve your stock.
If he knows he is innocent of any serious crime and teams are telling him they just can't take him while it lingers, it seems to me that the least riskiest path to a big pay day is sitting out one year rather than playing four.
