Best Auto Insurance?

Shopping around to try to drop my auto insurance. What do yal find has the best rates? Also, what do yal put as your bodily damage limits that make you feel comfortable? I'm currently at $100K/$300K. Does this seem about right?
Also, 28 and living in Houston if this helps.

That is way more coverage than you need in my opinion. We do 50/100. I am in the middle of switching from State Farm to nationwide

Whatever you do, make sure you have full UM. Don't let an agent talk you out of it.

USAA if you have access to it

GEICO has best premiums in LA for people in their 20s - 30s, IME. If State Farm was close I'd go with them. There's a reason more than 1 in 3 drivers are with them.

The difference in costs between a 50/100 and 100/300 policy is a few hundred a year. A 50/100 policy is fine if you don't have any assets. All it takes is a judgement in excess to ruin you.

I pay $78.19 a month for 2013 JEEP G.CHER 4D 4X4 OVERLAND (300/500/100 coverage)

I've been with State Farm over 10 years but they have constantly gone up on rates. I am switching to nationwide and saving 250 a year with better coverage

Why would an agent talk you out of UM?

See, where are you getting this?
Right now I'm looking at the lowest is ~$120/month. This is with USAA, and Progressive is the only thing close.
I have been out of the country so I haven't had insurance for about 2 years. Is this what's fvcking me? I'm also in Texas so I expected it to be much less than LA.

More exposure for the insurance company and it's not a huge increase in premium. I've had clients tell me agents try to talk them out of it.

LA rates are very high compared with most other states. I pay $310 for 6 months of 100/300 comp/collision on a Toyota Highlander and Camry. FWIW, Grange Insurance

With Geico on a 2011 Tundra, I have 500/500/250 BIPD, $50 ded comp, $250 ded collision for $100 a month. Same coverage on wife's 2008 vehicle for $80

I think the best insurance has to be the cheapest right? Lowest limits of liability possible. No huge deal. Only protecting your net worth. Relationship with the broker and/or carrier? Nah, business isn't done like that. Best to get online and save 200 bucks a year. New economy.

Before you go with the cheapest I would read the entire policy. While state farm and others are higher than lizard insurance, the lizard may not provide near the coverage. Budget insurance is ok for many people, you have to make these decisions based on your own unique situation. I will echo the encouragement for UM while living in Houston because many in Houston have budget insurance, state min or none at all. Covering your net worth and paying the least amount as possible with a company that has a good track record of paying claims is your priority.

Cheapest possible is always best. Do it online while you're supposed to be working. Then spend some time on FB. Do not log in to your 401K to rebalance it on your employer's time however.
Brave New Cyber World. Cheapest. Smart Money Management. Cool. Cheaper is better.

Remember with USAA you get a check at the end of the year based on what the company didn't pay out in claims

I wouldn't get on the road with 50/100
